Default Seattle Alignment RECOMMENDATION

I've said this before but Guys, I just want to say it again ... I just had my second no-lift, rolling compensation alignment done by Les Schwab in Tukwila, near Seattle. The car handles like it'sw on RAILS, no lifting, and really excellent service at 80 bucks. Cannot recommend these guys enough.

Thanks for the recommendation Heinrich. I'll try them.

I'm looking for an alignment shop in either the Seattle or Portland areas that will do a decent job on my '87 S4.

Since this thread goes back a few years...is the Les Schwab in Tukwila still a good bet?

Any recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks.

Pretty much any place with a modern Hunter machine with laser sensors is good. Regardless of who you choose, make sure your tech knows to never lift the car during the procedure, and watch the entire procedure if you can.

I highly recommend Omni Alignment in Kirkland. Old school techs that know our cars. The best I have had in 15 years for my 928's.

I only use a shop which knows how to lift the car, fully inspect the suspension and understands how to settle it before aligning it. They've been doing alignments for over 30 years on 928's by simply following the WSM.

Following the WSM isn't rocket science and even if they do a "no lift" it's still important to measure and verify ride height before doing the alignment.

Always go in with a copy of the alignment procedure from the manuals:

Hack, that's only perfect advice if you are running stock height, suspension and wheels. Geometry changes when any of those change. Best to not let them lift at all.

On modified cars it's even more imperative to check everything especially ride height.

My 79 is far from stock and it has been lifted for every alignment, no issues because my shop follows the factory method.

Only if they are incompetent, and if that's the case why would you want them working on your 928?
How many threads / posts are there vetting people we should "allow" to work on 928's, but when it comes to an alignment it's OK if any random grease monkey does the job as long as they don't lift the car?

The bottom line I say in all these threads, at least understand why you are asking for a "no lift" alignment because not lifting the car does not guarntee things will turn out correctly. Just because you put some random miles on the car before taking it to the shop will not guarntee the ride height is fully settled.

Why not just understand the procedure and do it the right way?

Thanks guys. I'll start with Omni -- they are convenient to where I'm at.

Appreciate the input.

This is proper advice.

The only way to be sure is to never lift the car - and nuke it from space.

I take a quick measurement at front fenders before and after just to make sure it was not lifted. At least that way you know not go burn up your front tires in a few hundred miles ...
