$5,500 would make a lot of other problems go away...

Larry,

Would you mind sharing a few details on the low cost of converting to a LS7?

There're on the 928 forum-Search "Black Widow" back on track dtd 10-3-09.

Keep in mind that I gave ole Ernie a premium to get a car that was pretty pristine. Including the cost of the car, we are right around $100k at this point. The motor was about $25k plus various costs associated with the dry sump and the FAST ECU and Ignition. By the time we are through the basic first stage of putting a competitive car on track, we should be somewhere around $130K. Of course, I will then have to figure out how to drive it competitively, which will be no small task. No doubt, that is a lot of money. However, if you want to track a competitive 914-6, figure the same $$$. If you want a GT3cup car, even more $$$. So, as I tend to like things that are different, I went with the 928 LS.

It is hard to argue with a LS7.
Brilliant, refined, hand built engine.

A lot of us shed a tear when Ernie got rid of that GT and knew what was going to happen to it. I hope it is leading a hell of a fun life.

Having talked with Larry, I think the car has done quite well for itself.

I guess that the only thing that I don't understand - after all of the mods, wouldn't a clean S4 have done just as well for a starting point?

It would seem so, except for the GT transmission.

How strong are the GT transmissions, can it hold up 630 HP, I thought 928 transmissions were weak.

Not to bring Kibort into the discussion, but if you've got 630hp, what would you do with the short 2.73? ratio gearbox.
Guess that 1/2 second of 1st gear is real fun. Till you need to clutch in, stop accelerating, and grab 2nd.
