None of my cars were racers, but some had very high miles.
I had a 83 944 that went over 500K with the original engine. No rebuild, no joke. I know it isn't a 928, but the engine is half of one. It came with a full service history, all receipts since new. I was the second owner. Just ran Castrol GTX 20-50 in it, and changed oil every 3500 miles. When I got it it had 315K on it. It was my daily driver for 6 years. When I sold it, it was using about a quart of oil a month. It was still very quick and responsive. The idle was terrible, but that was due to worn out MM. The new owner put a little cash into it, and it ran like new. I havn't seen him for a couple of years, so no telling if it's still going or not. My 86.5 has 230K on it when the engine was pulled for the TBF. I believe if the flexplate had been checked, it would still be running great today.

211k on mine and just returned from the Ring with no issues at all. Last year I put 4,000 miles on the car during a three week summer holiday and the no problems then either.

Soooo....w/42K miles on the clock, I've gotta step up the pace...and I haven't to worry about engine longevity...other than keeping oil in it, protecting the cam belt thing and avoiding hard and long left hand sweeps (2 and 6 bearings). This news verifies that it may be worth spending more money on upgrades!

I have approximately 206,000 miles on it now. Original engine, leaky radiator,
and have driven it across this country a two or three times combined, and all over California. Think I'll keep it forever.

BTW- My radiator fix is still holding up. 2 weeks of daily driving, several trips to redline, complete heat cycles each time, no leaks!

I like this club..!
My S4 manual from 89 racer just passed 300000 kms...
Before supercharging it we overhauled the tops.
Looked pretty good!
Two valves needed to be changed.
The block and pistons looked pretty good.
Its the car in my avatar.
