Default Hardware source for automotive bolts, washers?

I haven't had much luck finding a source for replacement washers and bolts for my engine rebuild. Secondly, the original porsche hardware seems to be on backorder very often. Specifically, I am looking for (according to PET) m12 x 1.5 washers for the head studs. Any leads?

Here are some 12 x 2.5...

They seem to stock lots of metric stuff, and the price is right.

I'd be careful about sourcing these outside of Porsche. They're probably grade "12.5" and may be extra thick.

I have purchased from boltdepot.com
Fastenal (sp) is a source too. Their website says they have a washer similar to the rubber backed one used on the valve covers on an '85.

+1 Glen

I'm reasonably sure that washers aren't spec'd by the same grading as bolts. But they will be hardened for sure are probably thicker than, and probably won't have chamfered edges like, a plain washer. They may possibly have a surface finish that is higher quality than a plain stamped washer, reduce torque losses when tightening.

Not a home despot purchase.

you should either use the old washers of the correct type or new ones of the correct type.
They dont usually go bad unless they have gotten corroded, i am sure there are a few used ones floating around that will work fine

Fastenal is great...if you like buying in bulk quantities. I went to get some new bolts for my axles. I had to buy 50. Good news is they cost less then some of these places charge for 12.
