Default Official: I Found This In My Airbox Thread

Ok, lets hear about your best "I can't believe I found this in my airbox" stories.

I'll start. Found this in my airbox today.

New one on me. Looks like a oil bottle cap. I must have left it on the radiator top near the intake. Lots of other crap in there too. Time for a new filter.

The cap easily fits through the intake tube opening.

Note to self: do not use radiator as tool and misc crap shelf while working on the 928.

Note to self 2: install screens across intake openings...

I've got some great pics of crap I've pulled out, but alas, wrong computer.

I think my car somehow picks up all the cigs I toss out the window.

Nothing that interesting. Cig butts, of course.

I think it was about a year and a half ago that mice or some such decided to cart bird food (mostly sunflower seeds) in there for frequent dining:

I've heard of much more serious critter infestations.

1/4" wire mesh over the intake openings will solve these problems, boys.

I once found a dead bat in the grill of my Isuzu...

At a local Porsche shop I was asked to look in the engine bay of a 911. The owner had brought the car in because it was a little low on power. The entire engine compartment, air intakes and air cleaner was completely full of dog food kibbles. Wouldn't have believed how much was stuffed in there if I hadn't seen it. It was totally packed. Busy, busy rodents.

When I was in college I worked at a Ford & Honda dealership. An older, eccentric gentleman had his car towed in because it wouldn't start. We found that a rodent had chewed through pretty much all his wiring, hoses, etc. He declined to have it fixed but paid for his diagnosis in change, which he carried around in a tupperware container.

I had a sparrow in mine. I have no freaking clue how a dead bird got in there.

But I bet the 911 had a real nice shiny coat.

Rumor had it that someone once found a nice long flatblade screwdriver lying across the air filter. And I don't think that went through the air tubes.

928. World's fastest Hoover?
