Water is highly over rated - lets just circulate amsoil and the WP bearings will last forever!

I've replaced 3 pumps on 3 different cars...all Porsche new. I'm hoping someone comes up with a more secure design before my next WP job.
Where's PorKen on this issue? H2 |

I do have the tool done to fix the block. Just waiting for Steve to finish up the inserts and the insert drilling tool. I'll start a thread about this stuff, when it is all done.

Personally I owned and used both 9201 and Kempf tools and the 9201 gave me inconsistent, non-repeatable readings evry time, so I sold it and love the Kempf tool, it works great.

I can set a belt at 5.0 turn it 720 degrees check it again and it is going to be 5.0. Not sure what to tell you other than no Pro mechanic that works on these cars that I know uses anything but the 9201 because it is reliable and repeatable. |

I have and trust my 9201 tool...but admittedly it's slower to use as compared with the Kemph tool. I've tested three Kemph tools against my 9201 and I had to mark my last Kemph wth a mark just barely aboved the notch. I kept thinkin I was getting bad ones. I use the Kemph for quick checks....but to the mark I filed on the tool..not the center of the factory notch. I think it's pretty well accepted, on S4s, that the proper setting is towards the high end of the notch. Set your belt to the center of the Kemph notch and you'll be running a bit loose. Obviously, it's not enough to make much difference but I think you have more of a safety factor by setting at 5.0 rather than lower.
Kemph and I corresponded on this a few years ago. With no complaints he didn't see the use in changing anything. BTW, the Kemph tool was developed while Kemph had a pre-85 928. I also compared both gauges to the factory Porsche tool from which the Kemph tool was copied. Where the 9201 really shines is tensioning the AC ribbed belt. H2
