What is this crank in the picture next to the keys? What is it called and what's it for?

Sunroof motor, so you can close it if the motor dies.

Yup, manual sunroof tool. Turns the transmission attached to the motor. Just pop off the sunroof motor cover, I honestly can't think of if there's any trick to that right now. A lot of the cars I've seen actually haven't had the cover (see avatar) and it's 1:00 AM on the east coast, and the '85 drivetrain and motor removal today wiped me out... All work and no play make the Sharkologist... something, something.

Peace,
Evan

Slow sun roof needs the tracks cleaned and relubricated.

I think that handle also works on the moving the seats forward and backwards.

BTW you know a set of keys can be made from the picture you posted.

Remove the sunroof cover, unscrew the brass clutch screw on the transmission with the slot end of that there gizmo. Turn it around and screw the screwwy end into the now empty hole and you got a manual crank to close your room if motor/battery/ trans takes a crappola!!! Hey Im here to help LOL

Q: Where was the factory location to store that tool?

I had it in my GT, never used it and it just sat in the glovebox. If i bought the car brand new, where would i have first found it? Where did Porsche put it? It doesnt go in the tool kit, where is it supposed to be stored?

I think the glovebox. It is also the crank for the seat.

The screwdriver end removes the screw and then the thumbwheel screw goes into the hole....replacing the slotted screw.....one tool does it all
