That is actually not a bad idea, but the rocket2 is near perfect and would be hard to say goodbye to, but still, it's a decent option for me.

And Gaz, that's some funny sh%^%t right there!

Just my $0.02, the head is a big deal. If you can't get that squared away, part it out - sounds like that would be more profitable anyway. The trans, is not as big of a deal in my opinion. It came with a 2.73 trans and that shouldn't be too hard to find. I'm sure there are some GT owners that would love to buy a 2.54 or even a 2.20 if they're boosted and are looking for a taker on their 2.73.

The head is a big deal. I have looked tirelessly for one lately. Maybe it's time to start the " parting the 89 GT thread"

How about first a thread "selling it to someone who would restore it"?

Make a profit, move on... save yourself the time and labor of selling of all the stuff. It's alot of work and you're a busy guy.

My .02 cents.

Jim,
That almost sounds like an offer. The problem with selling it here is that everyone knows what I paid for it.

It's not a problem IMO. It will be tough to sell in it's current condition. You could easily make $10k from parting it out (not counting your time), but it is a BIG undertaking, but you already know that.

Offer if up for $2,500 and see what happens. Still a fair price I think considering...

Who cares. Turn a buck for your time and then and a little bit for Santa Claus...
Call it good for the betterment of the community. Just as long as it gets in the hands of someone who'll restore it.

FWIW, that's the number I was thinking. But that's based on what I think I could afford.

Kevin,
You can figure what it's worth to you, then feel free to let us know.

I'll throw my hat into the ring as interested. I'm not asking for anything... don't want to be a "circling shark".

I wish you well with your decision.

I would love to get it back on the road. I miss having a 928 or 2 around keeping me busy.

Did I miss the pics of the car? Never saw any. Mason has a GT he's fixing I believe he might be interested in parts.

Thank you! Thank you! You've been a great audience...

One thing you should all know about me is that just because I include a little humor in my posts doesn't mean I'm kidding.

I believe what I said in my post - it'll never be a silk purse even if someone restores it.

Folks,
Not everyone is looking for a silk purse.
This is an '89 GT! To some people, including myself, this is the epitomy of the 928 driving experience.

I've always wanted one to drive and keep for a long time. Not to sit in the garage with the original paperwork, increasing in "theoretical" value.

This could be a good opportunity for a driver GT. Better than going to the parts bin. There's plenty of other "too far gone" 928s to handle this duty.
