No problem. I wish I had never posted this to begin with.

I REALLY hope this car says together. It IS a GT. The VIN , even though with a salvage title because of theft, is the part that can't be faked. If the paint is nice, the interior in nice the mechanics are the cheapest fix....Please consider posting pics.

+1
Unlike stocks, where you can research before the purchase and buy with a couple of keystrokes from the comfort of your home, there's little to no risk in the purchase. You know what you're getting.
However driving 4 hours to purchase something sight unseen from a flaky seller puts your time, energy and gas at risk. And that's assuming that the item is properly described and hasn't already been sold by the time you get there.
Aside from the time, gas, transport investment, the risk merits a profit....whatever it might be.

+1, well said Dean.

Kevin was first in line, and had cash in hand.

If he decides to sell, rebuild or part it is his decision, and anyone who cries foul at him as the buyer is just jealous.

$2500 would be a deal for someone, and they would not care that you paid $1000 for it just days ago.

But if I buy it, I'll spend an additional $20k in attorney fees and be lucky to get shared custody of the kids.

Babies' mama doesn't like more than one 928 in the garage.

If I were you, I'd kept it.

Agree 100% the digi dash is a really nice upgrade, as is the newer dash and pod.
But that all came in 90.

Stan, sorry, but im pretty sure you have a 1990 PSD transmission. The 89 GT didnt come with PSD and to fit it would be near impossible. The proper transmission is probably the most rare for 928's.

If you can produce a price for the PSD transmission you have you may have a buyer right here.

Nope, digital dash came in '89. PSD and airbag came in 90 - the 89 dash actually has the bulb spots for the airbag too. The newer dash and pod came in 90 tho' - in my 89 the reset button for the trip computer is by the AC button.

A PSD 90-91 GT transmission can I think be retrograded using one of the regular later style 40% mechanical LSD's. It is otherwise the same as the '89 GT gearbox - same ratios, same type G28/55 etc. (or do the "use a bolt" hack job to replace the PSD actuator).

As I have said, Carl F. has a kit to retrofit the PSD to LSD: http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...ip_adapter.php

Kevin,
How did the paint hoild up being run through the trees??? Would it need to be repainted to be nice?

I'm still very interested in seeing pics and maybe making an offer myself.

Hilton I know that the digi came in 89, but it came in the older pod and the original style dash.

I much prefer the updated airbag dash and pod. Much cleaner if you ask me.

Although i do kinda like the parcel shelves on the 89 and earlier cars which arent on the airbag cars.

Stan,

The retrofit then negates the benefit of having a PSD box. Also Carls kit requires you find an early LSD and ideally rebuild it. I believe Carl was selling LSD cores for $600, I dont know what it costs to rebuild them, lets say $300, then on top of that the modification that Carl sells for another $250. Now your talking $1150 plus install to get this PSD trans to work in a non PSD car.

OR

You can sell the PSD trans for MORE than it would cost you to buy an earlier LSD equipped transaxle.

I know which makes sense to me, it just depends on the car. For 90 and later i would always stick with PSD, for earlier, I would NEVER bother with PSD.

And sorry, but I do not believe in the "bolt" method for varying lockup. PSD was designed alter lock up on the fly, x number of times a second. To ditch all that and just put a bolt in the hole where the slave would go is like painting a Ferrari with a paint brush or roller and Behr paint from home depot. NOT IDEAL
