Default Part out or fix?

My cassirot 928 aka cassiROT or pink one needs an engine 0 psi of compression in the rear cylinder. I later found a chunk missing from the butterfly in the throttle linkage. My guess is it went into the rear cylinder and when the compression stroke came the piston lost the battle. At this point i'm way over my head in this car just put $2500 (last of the car savings) into doing the torque tube, shocks, intake refresh, and numerious other things. I recently just got married and money is tight right now. Don't think the wife would allow another huge repair bill. I'm extremely sad and let down. I have slowly been restoring her for over a year! I put my heart and soul into this car and we had some good memories together but i'm thinking its probably best to part ways. How much are part out prices going for? If you were in my shoes what would you do? Below are some pictures of our fallen family member. This one's for you Cassirot !

Yep that's me day I picked her up at the owners house in Missouri summer 2007. My first nice 928 I could afford after school.

Day I brought her home after the big drive to Michigan. Was good times getting to know her.

That car should not be parted out. Don't know what it would take to fix, but for the effort, you'd be further ahead to just sell it anyway.

I'd sell it whole to some poor sucker that absolutely loves the Cassirot/burgundy combo. Parting out a car as nice as this is a mistake. Also, it's a mega-hassle unless you have space to pick and pull and ship bits. Also, wives hate that kind of shyte(ask me how I know).

It will run ok, not perfect but ok, with only 7 cylinders. Why not just pull the injector connector of that cylinder and drive it untill you can afford to fix it.

Definitely not a parts car. As far as what should you do for you? Up to you, man. You have to weigh things out. The balance, ya know? If the car is coming between you and your family, don't let it. Either sell it or shelve it. If you shelve it... save you money, get caught up with family, finish the honey-do list (heh!), then systematically plan a time to dig in.

Keep in mind, 0 compression doesn't necessarily mean piston. Could be valve, which would be less a hassle. So, while you thinking this through, it may be a good time to do a leak-down test.

That is one nice ride you got... any chance you can remove the head and inspect the damage? If the block and piston is damaged I have a bare block and piston that is priced cheap. You will make some good $$$ if you part it out although it won't be overnight. If you sell it as a parts car you will definetely loose $$$.

+1. And if time holds any value to you, consider the amount of time it takes to...
answer questions, disassemble, clean, inventory, advertise, package and ship parts. (Ask me how I know)

Shelve it till you can fix it. In the mean time start pulling it apart to see exactly how bad it is.

The 0 compression might be that missing bit keeping a valve stuck open. Pull the injector and see if you can see any bits in the valves. A cheap boroscope would assist.

What do you want for the block and piston?

Not a fan of that color but that car does look nice.

How many decent used S4 engines have we seen on this list over the years for $1500 or less? Man, get one of those and drop it in... plug and play. 8 hours worth of work (or less for someone who knows what they are doing and has all the tools) and you would be back in 8 cylinder business. Temp fix is to disable that injector and drive on 7 as long as you need to... agree to nice to part.

Im sorry for your trouble , do not part it out. sell it or keep it until you save enough to fix it.
Thats one nice color combo with no rubstrips. a set of GTS mirrors and newer design wheels... that would be one sweet car.
If you can store it.
