I am trying to have a pair of MSDS headers shipped from the US to the Netherlands. How much do those headers weigh (more or less)? What length, width and height (more or less)?
Thanks

I'd guess you could pack them both in a box measuring 30cm x 60cm x 1m (more or less). The actual weight will be about 25~30 pounds maybe a bit more. I think you'll end up paying more based on size than weight.

Thanks for the fast response. The weight is pretty good, but you're right, it's the size that costs....I checked the USPS site and apparently large packages can only be sent Global Express Guaranteed, which is the second most expensive option (delivered within 1-3 days)
I'm not in a hurry to install them, so if it takes a few weeks to ship, that's fine with me, but alas no such option. If anybody knows a cheaper option to ship a large package, please let me know..

Try USPS airfreight. Costs 135$ shipped insured to Romania, so I guess Holland should be similar or maybe cheaper by 10-20%.

Thanks ricer. The seller says both USPS and UPS shipping costs are about US $350 to Europe. Is that a fair price? What do you think?

Send them to me and I'll take them to my international shipper (Econo Export Pros, located in Raleigh NC). I ship large telescopes to Europe all the time and get excellent rates. Much better than anything ever quoted by USPS, FedEx, DHL, or UPS.
I have a set of MSDS headers coming within the next few days. When I get the box and have the weight and dimensions I'll call him and get a quote. Shipping from MSDS to my house was $40. PM me if interested.

You should take cold_beer839's offer, I bet you'll get way cheaper rates this way. I also located a US shipper specialised for Romania and rates are about 1.40$ / lb from New York to Bucharest using airplane. Boat rate is 1.20$ / lb but it's much slower. You should be able to get even cheaper rates for Holland, after all Rotterdam is Europe's first naval hub. |
