Well its running .
I had some assistance from BigBlock 153 Mike, and after replacing the engine wire harness and fixing some loose wire connections on the CE panel and removing some fises , and a general check out , 4 cranks and and she setteled into a nice even rumble, all the gauges work and it has some interesting center console equipmant .
Anyhow it still needs some muffler work as one of the outlet pipes has a snapped off tip and this will melt the PU cover if the car is driven any distance. Other than that some basic cleanup and it should make a great daily driver.
Thanks again fior everyones assistance

I've unfortunately come to a point where I need reliable transportation more than I need my 928. The car really should go to someone who understands these cars and their quirks... it's hard to imagine explaining the odo gear thing to an outsider).
You should be looking for a bit of a project-- at the moment the car is not starting (see this thread for why: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...t-puzzler.html) -- the good
news is that it was running just last week.
The basics:
1986 Porsche 928S
Moss green metallic, brown leather interior
5-speed
No sunroof
Approximately 160,000 miles. Odometer gear gave out several months ago... (I know, I know. I replaced it once, it broke again, I haven't fixed it.)
The good:
Top end motor refresh 2/2008, along with a t-belt, waterpump change, at a respected Long Island, NY shop (SM Motorsports).
New motor mounts, seals, clutch, and associated materials at the time of the motor work in 2008. Only about 1100 miles ago.
Recent alternator, starter (2006).
Recent front shocks. Includes new (uninstalled) rear shocks, too.
Brand new fuel pump/filter
Paul Champagne leather dash pod, A-pillars, glovebox door, rear armrest w/ P-logo.
Louis Ott X-pipe (from when we could call them that) with high-flow cats.
Includes a new (uninstalled) brown leather dash (~$600 value)!
Includes a never-installed short shift kit
Always synthetic fluids, regular changes, etc.
The bad:
The top end refresh followed a broken T-belt in 07. Has a small oil leak into the V ever since (I think the oil filler gasket, just never checked).
**Car isn't starting right now**. Seems like an electrical issue... possibly in the fuel injector harness. I've purchased one for replacement but haven't installed it. The car will be sold AS IS but for a Rennlist member I'm happy to help get it running as much as I can.
Moderate paint damage to the front bumper, scratch in hood (some SUV's back bumper rode over the bumper cover and a few inches of the hood. Yuk). Entire car was resprayed a few years back (in orig color) to match a replaced bumper cover for a similar reason. Paint is only fair condition overall.
A/C doesn't work. There's a leak somewhere but the compressor worked last time I tried to fix the system (~6mos ago).
Dash is horrible, dash cover is now damaged too. (But you get a new dash with it!)
Odometer gear issue
Alternator charging/resistor issue (need to rev RPM>2000 when first started to get charging.)
Total homebrew stereo with some alternator whine (works but you should probably just do it again. Blame my PO!)
Center console was cut up to accept a touch screen for a carputer. You can keep the screen but I kind of want the computer. Looks acceptable but needs refinement.
The exhaust from the cats-back including the 2 mufflers was damaged in shipping from NY to CA, and probably needs replacement.
Severe wear on drivers seat bolster, no tears. Small tear in pass seat leather.
The brake pad light came on the other day (like I needed that)
---
My plan is to keep working on the car as I can to get it running again. I am convinced it's an
electrical gremlin, and may try to replace the FI harness in the next week or two.
I was thinking something like:
You take it away and worry about it yourself: $2500 OBO
If I get it running, I'll be asking more.
Car is located in Los Angeles, CA (Westwood)
Pics are coming hopefully tomorrow or Sunday.

Obviously Mr. Merlin is reposting the OP info for some reason. Maybe we will find out. Maybe we will not. Where is the car? Is it working? Is something amiss?

I have the car in Denver, made it home from LA with some bad oil leaks.
I found after removing the intake that the oil fill spout had a bolt that was too long and thus one side wasnt secured it was pumping oil out of the edges and filling up the V and the front well next to the water bridge,
this required to keep adding oil and sopping up the oil next to the water bridge with towels about every 1/2 a tank.
Also the dipstick tube had the wrong O ring and this was also leaking oil to the front of the pan. All is fixed now.
I also inspected the drive line and found all 3 of the clamp bolts were damaged in some way , the rear bolt was finger tight and the input shaft was jammed into the crank , so i moved the input shaft back and chased the coupler threads and installed new bolts.
Also am replacing all of the brake rotors and pads as they are very rusty like they were run into salt water or the car was parked in a wet area for an extended period of time.
Reason for the repost of the original is that I didnt get all of the things promised and wanted to make sure it is in writing as the OP was removing some of the posts that were made.
It doesnt look like the missing items will be able to be had.... reference the rear shocks and the short shifter kit
Anyway on to fixing the rest of the car, pictures to follow

You bought a 24 year old exotic for 2500 dollars that has been passed from owner to owner while being improperly worked on by idiots and charlatans. What exactly did you expect? The parts alone are worth 2500 dollars.

I was expecting to get the parts that were originally offered as part of the deal and the purchase price was 3000. Due to the Op adding in the harness that I replaced to get the car running
I was also expecting to have to go through the car and make all of the systems work as they were designed, that was a given for me.
But I was not expecting much else, i will get this car up to snuff I figure its going to cost about 2K of additional parts to make this right, but then again when i am done it will be a reliable 24 YO daily driver
