CDR-220: Fighting bling, one radio at a time...

As far as I know the only year that came with that green reset button is the 89. Like you mentioned, someone probably just swapped it in.
As far a stereo's go, the Porsche unit looks nice but I think the Blaupunkt Toronto was made for the 928 . The viewing angle of the display can be adjusted internally and the color can go from red to green or inbetween ... I've got one in my car and it blends nicely

This sounds like it may be the solution to my problem: trying to find a working CD-2 with a code!
Just checked completed auctions on Ebay and see that someone got a CDR 220 with a 6 disc changer for $202.50!

Now, if someone could tell me how to hook-up an iPod to that thing, that would be awesome!

I have that one, too, but the display completely failed on me. I still have to send it in... that will be my second repair. One time the tray for the key card broke - I have no idea how, but learned that it is both fragile and expensive to fix.

If I get one of the CDR 220's you are welcome to but my CD2 with code, but good luck getting it fixed. Almost impossible! It works but it is a PITA.
Dave A. I have not targeted a specific auction just yet... stay tuned, I'll look again tonight!

Nice looking radio, but the pic says Blaupunkt London, which one do you have?
This is a great thread, I want to replace my garrish silver Japanimation Pioneer unit that came with my car to something more contemporary.

both of my montereys are flaky. was looking for a replacement for the 928 that was not blingy.
came across this blaupunkt unit that is direct replacement for montereys and stock amp. has cassette but SW radio told me the ipod/mp3 aux connection is an extra $100.
still in consideration mode.

I'm also loath to put bling head unit in a 928.
Found this Becker Indianapolis on eBay. Cost me only a little more than I received for selling original Blaupunkt Toronto to a guy for his 911 3.2.
In daylight it's black characters against the plain background. At night there's an amber glow to background and controls which matches very well with the other console lights.
Plays mp3 CDs, has an aux input, and even has satnav but I haven't bothered installing a gps antenna for it.
4 x 20W. I think it's suitably understated but has all modern facilities apart from direct iPod control (but Becker sells an add-on interface for this).
It was original fit in a Ferrari!

LOL...that's what I get with images snagged from the webz.... Mines a Toronto, and not sure why that one is a "London".. It looks identical to the Toronto. I'll get some installed pics this weekend and post em up..

New Toronto
Stephan at NW Stereo is quite enthusiastic about the new Blaupunkt Toronto just released for sale. Has Bluetooth capability and much more. Look is much less extreme than recent Blaupunkts.

I choose the CDR-220 also. It looks factory and non-blingy. I'm not sure about pre-outs etc. I didn't want to screw up my car so I let the professionals do it at Sound Station and Security. They added an Infinity 1200-watt Kappa amp, 10" Infinity Kappa sub, and MB Quarts throughout.

David, that all looks VERY NICE! Looking forward to a CDR220 soon! Gonna win one of those on ebay in the next couple of days. Hope I don't have to go up against any of my brothers here for it though!

New Becker Toronto looks good, just wish it wasn't as shiny.
