I could pull the CD-2 out of my GT and trace them, but which of your cars is getting the CDR-220- the '88? If it's the factory cable in an '88, PET sez you need 928 645 406 00. But that part number may be not be the one used by a CD-2. (I didn't think CD-2's came from the factory until 1990, or whenever the 10 speaker stereo became an option...) If your CD-2 was dealer installed, maybe its cable to the amp was part of that install kit I mentioned (?)

Sorry to confuse the issue.

I had the cable end at the amp end (90 degree plug) come off in my hand (twice). Only solution was to send it to Stephan (twice) to be repaired. I was very carefull the last time. Basically if you grab the plug and pull you pull the wires out of the pins. Very touchy. Call SW Stereo and talk to Stephan. With two way shipping it will take at least a week.

Standard DIN's come up to 8 pin's, it is a standard part although may be hard to find. Mouser part# 171-0278 is the male connector (which is the one that broke, right?)
Link here or go to www.mouser.com and search for "171-0278". No minimum, and shipping can be as fast as you want to pay

That's assuming your guy knows how to solder and can transfer the wires from the broken connector. But in that case, he can probably just remove both connectors and splice the wires together. As long as he doesn't reach for the wire-nuts, it will work fine.

Cheers,

Jim and gang, Fry's and Altex have EVERYTHING electrical so I am guessing they will have the right stuff (at least between them) to take care of this.

Jim you are quite correct it was the 90deg end that came apart. Looks like it was not the first time either! Of course we don't need the 90deg anymore because it is just going to plug in to a custom harness with plenty of play.

Just wanted to say thanks to Jim for the fast, inexpensive, and QUALITY fix for my CDR 220! Could barely read the face plate before but looks great now!

Just a datapoint- Next week we're putting an updated Sharkwoofer into Hebert's Zyclamrot car, which has a CDR-220. I talked to Stefan at SW Stereo on Tuesday about having a plug n play adapter to send 4-channel preamp outs and an amp control wire from the back of the head unit. For $29 he sent me this adapter that appeared in the mail today. Just sharing that these can be had inexpensively for sending a proper preamp signal to an auxillary amp and/or subwoofer.

Porsche makes a really nice new radio for their classic cars (ok its Euro spec at this point only), that fits perfectly in the old cars space. It includes iPod integration, navigation and all the other bells and whistles, including a build in amplifier and whatnot.. Fits all classic models except 356.

part numbers:

911 645 190 00 without TMC
911 654 191 00 with TMC

you can get it from Porsche Classic.

My guess is that a PO swapped the alarm panel at some point, for some reason-- the wire from that button is just cut off behind the unit. I need to find a good use for it.... a laser-jammer reset or something like that

That "O" button is to reset the odometer on '89 MY 928s. I think it is the only year where this appears.

Another Hebert car, another CDR-220, another adapter cable. This one charges both Ipods and Iphones. Stefan has a cheaper one listed, but it only does Ipods. This covers all of your iCrap:

By coincidence I was reading all about the radio, windshield and built-in antenna just yesterday after finally getting access to my Morehouse CD's for the 1st time in years.

Yesterday I found a place in the phillipines that claims to still have original blaupunkts that came with ROW cars for sale. (The securiflex windshield was really something)

A link to Porsche Classic mentioned by Khalloudy - http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...vices/classic/ the radio in the catalog is kinda boring but the services they offer are tempting for any lottery winners.

I like the original radio in my Euro a lot, it has great period looks and has a terrific tuner, but the cassette deck does not work, can you have those repaired?
