Factory Cup I's (993 p/n/17") or Factory 17" Twists (996 p/n)?
Yes, another wheel thread.
I picked up a nice set of 996 Twists today for a good price and I already have Cup 1's for my black 1980 project.
Which style do you like more on an early bodied 928? TIA.

Hard to say...they are both quite nice for an early 928. Had both at one point or another.
I think the twist are more modern looking, but just by a fraction. Only downer to the twists are the look different from the left side of the car to the right.
Cup I's are traditional 5-spokes... can't go wrong.
Are both sets OE Porsche? If so, I would go with the lightest set.

According to this chart (http://www.superhonda.com/tech/wheel_weights.html), Cup 1's weigh 18 and 19.5 (7.5/9inch respectively) and the twists are 19.1 and 22.3 (7/9 inch respectively). All things being equal, me thinkst I will go with the lighter wheels. Thanks for suggesting relative weights Jim!

Here are the Cups on the 1978. I can post a pic of the back of the wheels next weekend (at w/e house). I can post a picture of the twists after the Super Bowl. Maybe someone can verify my factory/replica confusion.

Here's the inside of a factory Cup I rim, with the part #, SL-600, made in Italy, etc. They have the offset stamped by the valve stem.
Do your rims have RDK sensors? I'm pretty sure all the 928-specific Cup1's would, 'cause they're '93 and early '94 only. Part #'s should be 965.362.164.05 (front) and 965.362.168.00 (rear)
Never looked closely at a set of the Mille Miglia replicas but their overall spoke shape is different (less 'sculpted') and no offset info cast into the outer rim.

Porsche has had wheels made in Italy...not sure why someone said that they didn't...but I saw that too and thought it was incorrect as well since I have also had factory wheels with the same printing on them.
I prefer the Cup I's. When the twists came out I liked them better, but I don't think have have worn as well...design wise at the Cup I or II wheels...

The front offset of the Twists are 55 (as are the rears). I will have to check the Cup offsets on Thursday.

Me too. The car came with the Cup 1's and I got a really good deal on the Twists. Since I am always trading stuff, I never pass up deals on wheels. When I saw Jwise's Cup II's a few weeks back, I told him I would buy them if he did not want them. At any rate, they are all better than a stick in the eye (or manhole covers).

Guys - for OEM wheel weights, offsets, and part numbers, this is my favorite site:
http://www.944racing.de/reload.php?u...elweights.html
Recall that 1 kilogram = 2.2 lbs.
Oh, and I voted Cup I's.

Like the pictures with that site. Here is another good one that has some comparable aftermarket wheels for P-Cars: http://members.rennlist.com/911pcars/WheelWts.html Astounding weight diffs between factory and replicas.

Here are a few shots of the 7 inch front Twist wheel. Sorry for the less-than-crisp photos. You can barely make out the 996 part number on the left/back photo and see "made" in the right back photo (towards bottom). They do say in Italy BTW. Again, I will compare the my Cup wheels to Rob's photo and take some shots and post following next weekend.
