Default Wiring Help Needed for a 1990 GT

Listers,

I have just wasted 1hr of my life trying to decode the wiring diagram for my 1990 GT. I need a feed for my shift light. I tried using one of the coils, but that is confusing the shift light electronics. Speaking to Dr Nick, he remembered that he also faced the same problem, which was solved once he spliced into the harness, which feeds the rev counter.

My problem is that while I have no problem taking apart an engine and putting it back together, electrics are a mistery Thus, would you be so kind and point me in the right direction - the colour of the wire that feeds the rev counter and on which of the 4 plugs it is...

In return, I am off to the Nurburgring for a track day on Monday, thus I promise to post videos taken from the car lapping the Nordschleife and the GP track combined! This is very rare and makes a lap 25.8km long, same as the VLN...

Many thanks in advance!

Alex

Alex,

There are many locations as to where you can splice in.
The fuse panel area will be the easiest though IMO.

On the fuse panel at the right end there is a W plug.
Pin W11 goes to the tach and tranny kickdown. It should be blue/white according to the wiring diagrams I have.
This same output goes to the diag plug pin 15 and is green/black there.
Also plug M pin 11 is the same.
at the instrument cluster it is plug 4 pin 7 and should be green.

on the side I have tried sending you a few emails and never get a responce. I will PM you on here after posting this. Can you please confirm that you get this PM.

The kickdown relay terminal is usually easiest on a 5-speed car. Just plug in a wire with a male spade terminal on the end of it.
