Default My Shark's got a bum ticker!

er, clock.

I had the car at the body shop to touch up a spot on the trunk . Since I've gotten the car back, I've noticed that when I turn the car off, the digital clock fails to keep time. It starts off with a good contrast, then when the accessory power turns off, the clock starts to dim. When I come back to the car, the clock has been stopped for the period of time I'm away from the car.

Even though the car has always started well, and have never had any problems cranking, even in cold temps, I thought it would be worth it to see what condition the battery was in. I saw the battery appeared to be 17 years old, but seemed to be in good shape(mini project for the coming weekend). I also noticed that it looks like I might be missing a ground strap(see photo). Except for this clock thing, it looks like everything works fine. Lights work, fan/radio works, etc. Just this clock thing. Ideas?

On the ground strap, the hole in the rear is for the Battery Hold Down Clamp Part# 92861120902 I believe was there any sort of hold down clamp or is the battery just free down in the battery box?

Yes. There should be a clamp (bracket) there to hold the battery well in place.

It's possible that the clock may be hooked up incorrectly - it should be hooked to the 30 bus (unswitched battery power) not the 15 bus (switched battery power).

Update:

Just tried the hatch motor--that's dead too. Any relationship between these things?
