Way too true. When I was five or six a neighbor girl of the same age was riding her bike in front of my house when she fell. Back then there were no helmets and as you point out that was the end for her.

Here are some pics of my Porsche convertable seat. It could use some washing
It looks to be the same pattern as Nicole's with Teddys and Porsches. Some of the cars look to be whale tail 911s?
I used this for some time with my sprouts and it worked very well in the rear seat of the 928.

Some random thoughts:

Child seats are a good topic to have fresh threads on because the available models get more and more limited all the time. It's now very hard to find new models that actually fit in a 928. A trip to Babies R Us will yield nothing but a bunch of superwide base seats designed for SUVs.

I made some parts to simulate the modern "latch" sytem used in late model cars and it worked nicely.
I used a generic adjustable strap with hooks for latches and made some parts that slip around the rear seat pivot mechanism. The strap then hooks onto those and gives the seat a firm mounting to the car. I also removed the bottom seat cushion to keep the seat low.

Does anyone know of a simple booster that fits without sawing?

I'm a bit surprised to read this.

While I don't have any first hand experience, I have been told that children are less likely to get sick, if they can see out of the windows, particularly the front.

Anybody have any input/experience on this?

I have a Cosco Serena that I purchased at Walmart for 70 bucks. It has a nice small base and fits in the back of the 928 perfectly. I installed 3 lugs in the hatch so I could use the latch system (I mounted two of them to the shock tower bolts and one to the factory hole). Seat is nice and tight, looks good and my 2 year old can't get enough of riding in the back!

Not sure if they are in the states, but the "Infa Vario" fits very well, designed for older kids as the headrest moves up. My kids a re 5 and 6.5, fit well, very comfy and you can use a harness or the lap sah as they get older. It holds the sash belt across the shoulder and not the neck. Also Safe n Sound do one but I am not sure if the base fits.
Recaro make some sensational kids seats, we are unable to buy or use them in Oz as they haven't passed our design rule tests........

I use Sunshine Kids - Radian65 - Car Seats

http://www.skjp.com/product/97556/16...SL%26%23174%3B

They are heavy but have a steel frame and narrow bases ( can actually fit 3 across in the rear seat ofa midsize SUV)

As for using older car seats one caution, they have an expiry date.

Many plastics used for safety devices are only certified for so long (typically 6-10 years depending on the manufacturer and material used) from the date of manufacture - hard hats and baby seats included. If your looking at an older seat, please check the expiration date - precious cargo your hauling around there.

This looks like a great car seat but have you used it in your 928? The description says no seat belt required. To me this means it assumes your car has the three point attachment system that comes on all recent cars. The upper strap with snap clip that attaches up over the seat back and then the two lower metal rectangular loops that are down in the crease between the seat bottom and upper bolster. 928's do not have these and therefore require use of the seatbelt as the primary restraint.

I like the looks and claims of this seat a lot. I just can't figure out how to use it with the existing 928 seat belt.

I do use the Radian in the 928 - It can utilize Latch / Lap-Shoulder belts or Lap belt only. I can dig out the manual or I'll just take a picture of the side showing the routing of the belts for you.

Other nice thing about these seats is they fold up for traveling.

Now I have to find out if the Radian 80 also will work. My boy is 40 pounds, 40 inches and 65 pounds is a long way off-but I'd rather future proof...
