Boganspeeds Grunt Injection - LS1 conversion

So there I was. I was waiting for my contract at work to finish so i could take time off and play with the car. So i waited, and waited and waited, and eventually decided I should do something more while I waited some more.
So I lifted the engine out.
Then I waited and waited some more.
Still no end in sight so recently I thought it was time to stop messing around and get moving while I waited.
So i got in and gave the engine bay a clean and fitted my new adaptor bellhousing from Renegade hybrids.
I had a bit of fun and games with the engine mounts. It turns out the Aussie ones are different to the US so i got Renegades to race a couple over to me and I got them in about five days which is pretty good.
The next step was to drop the new donk in.
But in a bout of unexpected maturity, I decided to do it all legal like and get mod permits for this conversion. which meant making the engine quiet, so i fitted up a pair of stock manifolds to the motor, ready to go in.
I grabbed my good mate Shayno and away we went.
So with a bit of jiggling about, the motor finally went in.
I have exhuast issues though, the right hand manifold points straight out at the steering shaft so I might go back to extractors and see if i can bend them to fit around it.
Shouldnt a be big drama though.
Might change the colour of these. Doesn't look as good as I thought they might.
I'll worry about that later.
So far, everything from Renegade Hybrids has fit just like it should, they've been really helpfull and fast so I'm happy with it all so far.
Next on the list is to drop the rack again and tighten up the engine mount adaptors, then finish bolting up the torque shaft etc.
I need to run the wiring harness that Renegades made up for me and sort out exhuast, power steering lines, radiator hoses as well as a hundred other things.
I'll just keep plugging away at it when the mood takes me.

In case anyone is interested.
Here's some pics from underneath the car.
You can see it's a neat fit over the cross member and sway bar.
Can't really get a great angle to get real good pics, but you get the idea.
Today i dropped the rack out again and tightened up the engine mounts, refitted the rack and bolted the sway bar back up.
Not much but enough to keep me busy for a couple of hours of messing around.
Here's a couple of pics of the torque tube adaptor.

Hell no !
I have to make an exhaust, get power steering and oil lines done, need to fit the new wiring harness to mate the chev computer to the 928 stuff, fit the radiator, make a cold air induction set up, plus some other things.
Still a fair way to go, especially at the pace I work at !

Looks like a really fun project. Great thread.

That'll scoot!
We source some GTO/LS parts (Holden to you) from JHP in Oz, but if I remember correctly they don't have much in the way of engine augmentation.
I think its a great project. Though seeing those CIS parts being hauled out and set aside makes me a little....covetous!

Love the covers! My 91 is just race so wouldn't want to use them, but the new LS6 sure could use something like those. What are they off of?
Just a note about GM alternators and Porsche central electric. We ultimately stripped almost every bit of wire harness out of the 91, but before we did, we had issues with voltage regulators on the GM alt going bad. Seems we needed to run a little resistance in the exciter wire. No problems since. You might also want to use a PS pump that matches the rack. If rack is original, it may not like more than 1000 psi and high flow.
