Default DFW Tech Session Saturday 7th August 2010

Hi Y’all,
Slight change of plan for the next GTG.
Starting time is the same 8.00 to 8.30am but the venue will be at Brad Webster’s place. Brad lives about 3 miles away from Andrews. If you need his address please send me an email to roger@928sRus.com and I will let you have the details.

This will be an all day tech session.
Breakfast is being provided by 928sRus – coffee, doughnuts, eggs, bacon and more.

Motor Mount and pan gasket swap on John Liedel’s new 88 S4.
Motor Mount swap on Jim Mayzurk s GTS.
We will also be checking steering rack bushes and doing general maintenance while the car is off the ground.

Mike Vance will also be demonstrating the use of the Sharktuner in preparation for 928sRus offering this as a service to the local 928 community.
We can sharktune 84 to 86 16v LH cars as well as 85 to 95 32v cars. Sharktuning package will involve before and after dyno runs as well as a set of tuned chips specifically for your car.

There will be a number of experienced 928 owners present so bring your car and ask as many questions as you like.

There will also be a BBQ in the afternoon and the swimming pool will be open. Guys bring your swimming shorts and towels, ladies you don’t need to bring anything 8>).

Bring some adult beverages, sodas and water. Food for the BBQ as well. Shop paper towels are also very welcome.

VERY IMPORTANT – Please bring your own tools but leave them in your car. Brad prefers that you use his tools unless there is a tool he has not got (not many of those I assure you).
This saves tools getting mixed up and the time asking around for who has what.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
Roger

Well at least I weigh about as much as an anchor!
The DFW 928 crew are an awesome bunch of people.
Adult beverages help as well I think.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating. The DFW group is great for several reasons.
1. We meet every month rain or shine on the same day of the month. In our case, it's the first Saturday of the month. This lets everyone plan. Even if they don't make it every month they know some of the group will be there.
2. We all help each other out with work on our cars. Yeah, we call them tech sessions, but it's really "come help me work in my car".
3. Yes, we do have an anchor, but the group could also survive without Roger. There are other successful groups out there.
4. Our cars are 12 month hobbies because our winters are mild enough for year round use.

Another tech session. Sweet..

When we all going to work on Brads cars and give him some love? The man has handed us his shop countless times, lost tools, provided for us. I think it's time for us to return the love.

I do have to agree, the DFW group is fantastic when it comes to helping one another. Not a day goes by that I talk to at least two of the group on the phone just to shoot the ****, or to talk tech. I feel especially blessed since I get to work on these things daily, and with the huge amount of 928's around this metroplex, it is actually giving me a lively hood I'd not have had back in Kansas.

I'll miss this one due to being out of town. I'll have to tell you that without this group, my decision to jump into buying this car would not have happened. Sean, Roger, Jim and the rest of the group have been really supportive. Yes, we are lucky here in DFW.

Roger I appreciate the invite but I will be working in my shop that weekend and not sure if I can make it. OH wait it is my shop. OK I will be there...
On the tool side, I do not have every thing but I am trying. Some of the special tools I don’t have so if someone needs something out of the ordinary please feel free to bring it.

Agreed. We need to help him get the latest project in gear.

Brad, I have shifter parts for you. I we can get the car up on the lift and the ball cup off, its a relatively easy install [considering your console is already out].
