Default 928 #6 on ebay.

I was browsing evil bay and came across an ad for 928 number 6. I browsed through the forum and didn't see any postings related to the car, so I figured that it was interesting enough to post here.

BTW, I have no affiliation with the sale of the car.

Here's the ad: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...item2a0a2f193f

Wow, there was a guy looking for a nice '78 here a while back, this would fit the bill pretty nicely.

Brown with blue/gray pascha? The interior color choices seem a little odd for a car spec'ed by the factory to show off.

Wow

So that wouldnt be the 16th car?

The pasha is the black/beige and it seems to be with brown, in a red car???

were the first 928s made into eyesores so they wouldnt be used for anything other than evaluation??

Is this how they figured out dark brown interiors don't with with red exteriors?

US model headlights, side markers and car #6 don't sound very good mix. Either its not really all original and have been fedelised after leaving from factory or its really not #6. In any case more info is needed like VIN, engine and gearbox numbers etc to really say if its worth to fix it.

Very curious...especially considering the fact that the seller never included the Vin.

That would be Robert B, I believe. I sent him a message but he hasn't been around for a few months.

Even if it's not "#6" but is a true 77, that's pretty damn special.

Now the big question, better to leave it as a survivor assuming the paint / interior is original or do a full restoration. I lean towards survivor.

That would be a big dilemma for me. Obviously I would repair the rear bumper, but IDK about the paint....one side of me would lean towards survivor and the other towards repaint...although I'm only 16, so I'd leave it up to my dad as I can't afford the repaint this car deserves.

It was listed on ebay about 5 years ago, didn't sell. Always wondered if it would come up again. I know there is a thread buried somewhere here in Rennlist.

Right it Tim and Cheryl Dey's backyard...not too far from me either.

Yep, been missing for some time, I am In Costa Rica... pineapples... So the 928 search is on hold for right now.. Almost bought the brown one a while back but it needed a head gasket job so I declined.
The pictures for this 928 are pretty bad I wish the owner would produce better quality, plus I would like to see some good close up pictures to determine how much has been changed (If anything) on it.
Hard to decide if to keep it as is or restore... it all really depends on the condition and originality. If too many things have been replaced or are missing then I would lean to restoring it. If its all there an untouched (bumper side light indicate that things have changed) then I would keep as is.
Anyway, means of transport right now is by Land Rover... A 928 would not make it down here... I could only imagine how hard it would be to find someone with 928 mechanical experience down here! (I can only do so much!)

While it might have been built in '77 I suspect it was/is in fact a '78 MY car... We have talked about this before and I think the conclusion is that any car built after May (and maybe even some May build cars) are considered the following years model year in Porsche-land... At least that is my vague recollection.
