Default Myth Busters

Has anyone seen this months Popular Mechanics issue? The issue has a 4-5 page article about an episode to be aired on Nov. 17, 2010 about whether the 928 is more aerodynamic facing backwards. Instead of putting a shark in a wind tunnel facing both directions, the geeky dou desicrates an OB to make it drive *** end first. Well I for one feel violated!

I almost bought the car that they rented as a control from a guy in Monterey. It was an 83' US auto with LSD painted a Corvette silver. He had a set of Boxster wheels on it and a set of manhole covers too. I wonder which set they used for the show? The owner wouldn't send me detailed photos of the interior or engine until I had already bought another car. I think the car they cut and flipped backasswards was a red euro... Please don't let it be a rare double dizzy! I wonder if they know the difference in horsepower between euro and US models.... could de-bunk whatever they found out! HAHAHAHAHA! We'll all have to keep an eye on them with this one...

I was at SEMA show here in Vegas yesterday and saw the car. What a hack job they did on the car. They reversed everything...motor in the hatch, rear wheels steer, the driver controls are in the passenger side and facing backwards. It was a total abomination. the windshield was cracked on the passenger side really low. It looked to me like somebody's head cracked it upon acceleration. I almost cried. Here are the pics of it. The last pic is through the hatch and the next to last is from the passenger window, facing the rear of the car.

Didn't notice...I was in shock at what I saw, and it hurt to actually take pictures of that Isle of Dr Moreau creation.

OMG, are these guys for real?? 8 seconds 0-60 and 14 seconds in the quarter?!? Their "science" is definitely flawed...

Default 928 myth - On Myth Busters

I was watching myth busters today and they tried busting the myth of a 928 being more aerodynamic going backwards.

I wasn't convinced with their tests which involved cutting the body off the car and mounting it backwards. In addition, they were using what appeared to be a euro S. They did some performance tests and the car did a quarter mile in 14 seconds flat, but it only had a time of 8 seconds from 0-60.

That car is now in a Fort Worth science museum.
