Default S4 Headers on OB?

Will S4 or later stock headers fit my '78 euro? If so, would they add HP? I thought this was discussed but a search turned up nothing.

S4 stock headers are 3-bolt flange and wont fit 16v heads. However, the 85-86 stock headers will fit, since they are 2-bolt flange. Yes, much discussion regarding the 85-86 headers, but realize you will need a spacer to fit one side to the cat/exhaust pipe.

The two lower mounting holes are also positioned differently on the '87+, you need the '85/'86.

Any significant hp gains upgrading to '85/'86 stock headers?

I have done this, but at the same time I "upgraded" my exhaust. When I say "upgrade" I technically restored my dual Euro-S pipes by putting an S4 dual cat in place of the single that had been welded in when it was federalized. It was an overall improvement, but I can't speak for the improvement of the manifolds alone. The old manifolds were significantly heavier though!

Steve I've got a very similar car to yours!!

Mine is a 79 Euro 5spd Petrol Blue/with cork linen
Everything including the gauges reads in german - haven't gotten it running yet though ^_^

Would 944 headers fit a 928? One one side at least? lol

I've got a 'spare pair of '86 32 valve oem exhaust manifolds if you're interested.I also have the oem cat. Once I install my headers I'll have two sets, if in need let me know. Thanks , Brian

You should expect around 10 HP.

Brian, let me go on record as being interested in the second set when freed-up.

Regarding the 84 Euro above, are you saying its got 32V 85/6 manifolds and 87 S4 cat?
If so, that means it has a short spacer pipe on the passenger side to make the match, correct?
