Default Phone Dial Design Project - Modern 18" 3-piece forged (Kickstarter launched, see post

Starting with a 16" Phonedial (Thanks Tass!), going to model in CAD, then possibly develop into an 17"/18" w/modern offsets.

Unless someone has $100K floating around, this will most likely be a short-run or "as needed" one-off type project.

*****Design in final stage, nearing release for prototype*******

928 Classics is pleased and excited to launch on Kickstarter, Project Dial - Reviving a Classic!

Due to the excellent response and support from our 928 community as seen here,
the Project Phone Dial team is ready to move forward into wheel testing and pilot-production.

This is where you and Kickstarter come together with us to help launch into this next stage of the Project!
We ask that you review the project and the rewards... see what interests you.
  • Wheelsets are available for those who've been waiting to purchase, limited edition one-of-ten
  • Cool Phone Dial T-Shirts, Posters and Models are available to help support the project, as well.
Our funding goal is $28,928 and we have 30 days to get there!

I'm pleased to answer any questions you may have, either on RL or Kickstarter.
Also, feel free to email me at jim@928classics.com

Lets make these modern Phone Dials a reality! Thanks for your continued support!

Yea, all I really need is a complete front quadrant (none of the back part of the rim).

So, if you have a spare phonie, and are handy with a sawzall....

Jim,
How soon do you need it and for how long. Sometime early in the new year I want to drive up there and visit Charlie. Is it something you can get done during a visit?

Thanks,

Erik,
Too soon to tell. Ideally, 18's. But I'm not sure if the design can be "stretched" or "scaled" that much and still stay true to original form. We'll see.

I can tell you this much, unless I find a serious investor, the wheels will cost some serious coin. And I won't make a dime (not that I'm trying to anyway). Just havin' fun right now.

I'll update this thread whe the project gain some traction.

Default So then next question is....

Does anyone have access to a 3D scanner?

If so, would you be interested in scanning a portion of a phonedial wheel?

It's not 100% necessary, but would save me a ton of time and ensure a higher level of accuracy.
