Herman,

As I understand it the dash need to come out to get to the evaporator, is that correct? If so that may have to wait a while.

Yes, you need to remove everything between the evaporator and the front seats to get it out. However, to clean it you just need to get at it from the engine bay. Just remove the A/C blower motor and its rubber connecting spacer, and you should be able to get some small vacuum attachments in there to clean it up.

Yes on the 78. It froze up and destroyed the belt, which also runs the fan.
I took off the pump, filter, and red hose that goes up to pas side cam. I ran it that way for the last year.

I am currently cleaning up the top end, and will remove the pipe, vac control, and the cross pipe between the heads, and plug the holes in the heads where the pipe goes. Then cap off a few of the vac lines.

I will have a thread up with the before and after when I finish.
