I don't think your "Boss" would approve of that acquisition :-)

But when we go see Randy, Charlotte is awfully close....and we are Gentlemen who are Club members...first "dance" is my treat..LOL

Dave,

Here is your Saturday motivation....

Just don't be tempted to install this type of "Boat Braking System"..

...and lastly a little Offshore Fun...

Everybody JUMP!

Oh Dave, here is another angle of a "protected rear" race trailer extension...

Hey Dave, that Nordic tunnel vid is very motivating....the submarine vid, not so much

Had a crap day today with the boat..I started making templates for motor mounts and discovered I still had contact between the bell housing and the jet pump. It looks like the only solution is to move the engine forward 1 1/2" and extend the drive shaft accordingly. I pulled the engine again, took some dimensions and threw the drive coupling into my truck to be reworked during the week. I'm going to jump back on the trailer project Sunday morning.

Not much of an update but thats the way projects go sometimes..

Thought you might like the Nordic vid...the "sub" vid was crazy....I thought 928s had great brakes! LOL

Sounds like you had the exact "project day" I did...oh well, we can just try again tomorrow.

On the bright side it might be better with the motor a little more forward.....

I'm still at it !

The trailer is pretty much finished. Phonedials were p-coated and mounted, fenders also p-coated and mounted. I painted the frame gloss black. The boat is sitting on the trailer and I'm installing new bunks with black astro-turf carpeting.

The engine is finally in a position where everything will clear but I had to scrap the upswept header design. I could not get enough space between the primary tubes and the floor stringers so I am going with a "log-type" water jacketed header. Even that presented some problems. I had what I thought was a pair of b-block ford exhausts and went through the effort of welding up the ports on one of them and then remachined them to match my euro heads. I did a test fit and only had an 1/8 inch of floor clearance. When I went to grab the second one from my donor boat, I discovered they were an unmatched pair and #2 was completely unusable.

So, back to e-bay where I scored a matched pair which also happen to be offset, giving me some extra clearance. Thanks to Obehave (Ed Standke) I now have a laser cut template that I will use to re-port these new exhaust manifolds.

The hull......I have decided to paint the entire boat. The scheme is going to be bright silver with a satin black nose. The hull has a a sort of early indy car looking snout on it so I am going to take some cues from that. If anyone out there is good with photo shop, I could use some help laying out the color scheme ?

Here is my first attempt at the jacketed exhaust....welded up and getting remachined. ( All of you professional machinists can stop laughing at my ancient bridgport now ) .

2nd and 3rd pics are of my new offset headers, yet to be reworked.

Good to see you're still poking away at that boat Tass. Keep up, as always, the great work.

Hi Dave,

I was hoping you would come around to this...not sure if I mentioned it to you, but this is exactly what I thought would be cool for your 928 Boat project....of course I was inspired by your bada$$ 928 and thought doing the boat silver too would be "perfect'.

I think it will look GREAT just as you described!!

Cheers,

Dave

Hey Tass, Im in your play yard now: I've started a 951-powered Glastron-Carlson I've always wanted.

Should be lots of fun, & a bit to re-engineer. I'll do a full "Porsche" build, guided by what I think Porsche would have done if they had been asked to participate in the design/engineering of this boat. My boat was made up until 1986 so I'm going with a '86 951 powerplant, augmented by a ballbearing turbocharger, crank scraper, & three water/water intercoolers: one for water (closed cooling), intercooling (lake water is 69 degrees on average), and oil cooler. Should be fun! Boat arrives in 2 weeks from PA: I could only find 5 available in the entire country when I was looking.

Fun!

Wow Tass, now you have competition! We should call the Discovery Channel and pitch the whole "Porsche Boat Build Off" reality show!
