Engine power deficiency
I have a 1987 928 which was running fine. It sat for awhile. On starting it up after it had sat, the rpm's would not go above 1150 and it was very difficult to keep the engine running. Adding throttle caused the rpm's to drop and, if the throttle was not eased up on, the engine would die. At 1150 rpm's, the oil pressure was between 3 and 4. Any ideas? Anyone had similar problems which they solved? I'm guessing the problem may lie with a blockage in the catalytic converter or fouled injectors or a bad engine chip. Any contributions would be welcome. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like symptoms I had with my '87S4. When you turn the keyswitch to ON before starting, are the injectors clicking? If so, the LH ECU is probably bad. Swap with known good one.

It sounds to me as though it might have gone into "limp home mode" when there is no output from the MAF. So possibly a dodgy connection to the MAF.
But, LH failure is statistically more likely. Did you charge the battery with it still connected to the car ? That could have been enough to zap the LH...
Also, do the check that Steve suggested... and also check for water ingress in the passenger footwell.
