San Antonio is our favorite large city in Texas! We go there a few times a year due to wife being a member of the DRT (Daughters of the Republic of Texas; her great, great grandfather was the last man living at the Alamo!).. You will love San Antonio, plus Austin is just a hour away!

Big E I come down to S/A about once every 6 weeks for the big In-law fix. Don't have much time when I am down there but would love for you to check out what's hanging on the back of my car. You can pack your tent & be in Marble Falls in a little over 1 hour. Very Very Hot & Dry in your new Town...
Good Day Sir

Mike

Me and my 3 boys make road trips to Rockport on occasion, we could make a road trip out of it.

When you get in San Antonio, we can head up to Austin and meet the other
928ers.

Erik, Sounds like you want to go after the big stuff. That's totally possible in this area, but you will have to rent a bigger boat and go out a ways, and that can get a little pricey $$. Bay & wade fishing is HUGE here for red fish, black drum, sheepshead, sea trout, flounder, and red fish. "Gigging" at night is also a lot of fun. Bonus-they are all great to eat. Robert, contact me when you and your boys are heading this way. T

Right now it is HOT. We have had 30+ days over 100 this year so far. Make sure you have your AC up to par before you get here.
Love to see you and that green beast at our Austin GTG's.

Thanks for all the hospitality guys! We will definitely have a great time! The first round will be on me (of course, I'll be "packing")
Unfortunately it looks like I will have to stay back here in the El Paso area for a while due to work commitments, but when I get there we will party!

Tony, I am too cheap to hire a boat. I will probably just wade or maybe get a kayak, and beach-camp. Are there areas to drive along the beach like I used to do in Baja, or is it all off limits to vehicles? I have an old Suburban fishing rig back in Cali, I was going to move it to Seattle for access to the Olympic steelhead/salmon waters, but if it is worth 4x4ing along the beach I might consider bringing it out there. What is the best fish to wade for? Not for eating, for fun.

Erik, Start out with wade fishing. That's what a lot of the locals do. If you want to drive on the beach with your Jeep, travel a little further south to Padre Island. Do a little research on beach camping in the the Padre Island area because I am not up to speed on that area. Fisherman come from all over to catch red fish in this area. Pretty good little fighters, and if you catch them, we will gladly cook them on grill and have at them along with some bruiskies. "jeffandeb928" 82 SC 928, are just up the road in Port Lavaca, another great fishing village. Jeff is originally from So Cal and is a lot of fun. There are some nice state parks that allow camping right on the water just a little north of here: T http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/ Also: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/
