Power seat problem

Power seat problem
I have an 87 S4 and I installed a new switch on the passenger seat for the rear height and back tilt adjustment and when I plugged the seat in and tried out the new switch and nothing happened, no movement or sound. The other switch for the front height and forward/back adjustment works. I'm guessing the motor for the rear functions is bad? Any other possibilities?

it could also be a burned relay there are a few of them under the seat

do you have stock seats?
IIRC there should be a relay board and a memory board under the Pass seat.
please take some under seat pictures

They're stock S4 seats.
If it was a bad relay wouldn't everything be dead or are there individual relays for front and rear controls?
I think there's something called a power seat relay module. Can anybody confirm this and describe what it looks like and where it's located?

Did you install an identical switch? Can you check the back of the new switch and compare it to the old one to be sure there are the same number of wires?
The reason I ask, is that I had a switch that didn't work. It had 5 wires, the other two switches (which worked) had 6 wires. I believe my non-working switch was from a memory seat. I added a 6th wire to it (power) and now it works...(I'm too cheap to buy a new one when I can make something work...)

yep i dont see any relays ,
the motors dont usually fail but theres always a first time, gotta do some wire tracing to figure out whats the issue and possibly run jumpers direct to the rear motor see if it works with jumper wires

The rear elevator and the backrest tilt are 2 separate motors. It is highly unlikely that both motors failed at the same time.
You can find the back elevator motor at the front of the seat, just apply 12 volts to the motor connector to eliminate the motor as the culprit.
The motor for the backrest tilt is in the headrest, under the foam and leather, so when we are pointing to other things, believe me, we are on your side
