Don't let it get a salvage title if you settle!

Sorry to see this but thankful it is a mere dent. If I were you I would put in the claim; get the $$ and buy a used fender and instal it, have it painted properly and pocket the rest of the $$

It sucks. I was a culprit once in a gas station, I checked both mirrors, checked my rear, turned around to watch out the back window of my Saturn SUV. Too late to hear the horn as the crunching sound of a Mercedes SLK 230 began...

He was parked directly behind me and below my rear line of site and not in either side view mirror. Insurance paid. I needed a little paint. He needed a new door.

That car was cursed either way-went back in 2 years time on Lemon Law. Next (current car) had them put a back up camera that sees what my rear bumper sees. I can see the rest out the window or sides.

You may find that you will be dealing with your insurance company and they can bill the other company subrigation or something is the term. Odds are the other company is going to choke on that estimate and get very hard to deal with. So you deal with your company and they collect from the other one.

I'm with you guys, hate parking lots and backing up! A guy backed into my 968 several years back ... he had a couple big bookcases in the bed of his truck and his open tailgate hit right under my spoiler. I think it's a real problem when taller vehicles can't see us and especially the drivers who are distracted with their phones or who knows what ...

My car has a salvage now and the damage was comprable to what you have on your car. The PO who had the car at the time told the insurance company to "do it up big". Well they did, and I now have a car that looks and drives perfectly with no evidence whatsoever that it was ever involved in an accident and has a salvage title. I'm sure that is why I'm having trouble selling the car. That "S" word scares folks away. Hope you get it sorted out.

You know they are **** female drivers when they completely rely on sensors to do things for them.

sorry to hear the news but glad no-one was hurt Sean.

I pulled up behind a parked avalanche, buddy gets out as I get out, he admires the car then says he didnt see it and was thinking of backing up before getting out. I park far far away which here in unpopulated Canada is not a big issue....just gotta walk a ways

Tell the body shop to redo the estimate for a used fender. Hell, if you call around, you can probably find one that is the correct color, on the underside.

That will make it more reasonable and you will be less likely to have to fight about what the car is worth.

I do the same... never park with the masses. In fact it looks better in the distance when it stands alone.
