Default Replacing power steering hose.

I have a crack in the rubber hose that runs from the power steering reservoir down then to the front of the engine bay. I believe it's the low pressure line.

If it is the low pressure line, an I replace just the rubber hose and attach it to the metal end with Oeteker clamps? It sure would be nice if this is possible since I'm out of work and don't have the money for a new hose.

Thanks for the help.

Any line that goes directly from or to that reservoir is a Low pressure line. One is a feed line (gravity fed) the other is a return line (low pressure). Only issue is they are preshaped if i recall....just make sure you use a replacement hose that is compatible with tranny fluid and you have enough hose to make gentle turns where need be...also make sure it is secured so it doesnt chafe

I have your basic "hose clamps" on mine.

no issues in over 4yrs now i think?

Thanks. I will go get the hoses and see if we can get it all cleaned up. It was quite scary having smoke come pouring out from under the hood when I parked it last night.

when that fluid gets atomized it will catch fire very easily...thats why the HP lines are so critical.

I replaced my low pressure lines with ordinary hose and clips, RHD , so they are longer than LHD. The only issue is the &$&^$% connection to the reservoir itself due to the size of the nipple - in the end I fitted a reducer , rather than look for a stepped size hose. Not very neat looking, but its fluid tight, and easy to fix next time the hose dies due to the effects of the oil and age and heat.

The one hose that goes towards the back attaches at the PS pump, it has several bends to it. It's a cheap part, call Roger. As for the one that goes to the cooler, it's a short bit of line that is held on to the cooler line by a crimp. Best way to remove it is a dremmel and a sore back from leaning over to get it out of there. Use power steering hose to replace it with clamps.
