Clutch Pedal stops Halfway in
Hey Guys,
I have an 83 DE car that i purchased a few years back. At the last track event i had a problem with the clutch. When i press the pedal in, it stops half way down. Solid, dead stop. as if there was a block under the pedal. I have yet to put it on stands and start pulling parts. I honestly do not know what the previous owner put back in the car. I know he had the clutch out, but not sure if he put in a single or dual.
Thought i might get some ideas as to what i should be looking for.
Thank you,
-Brian

I've had the same issue. A friend pushed me to the right speed so I could shift in first, then drove home to check what was wrong. (difficult in Dutch cities with all the cyslists who have priority over all other traffic and do not watch out for themselves). I still don't know what it was, but the fix was to pull up the pedal by hand and all was fine again.
Worth a try!

Well when i push the clutch in, and it stops, you hear a metal on metal sort of clunk, when the pedal stops. if i didn't know any better i would say i forgot a wrench in there. but i haven't had it apart.i don't have any issues with the pedal coming back up. it moves freely both directions, until half way.. I just don't know enough about this setup to think of what might have failed to cause this.

Without further info the only thing I can think of is that the ball/bushing at the top of the bell housing could have broken or disintrigated and not letting the clutch pivot for full action. If you take the air cleaner housing out and have somebody look down at the top of the bell housing when you press the clutch pedal you might see what is catching.

OK, problem is Fixed. one of them god forsaken bolts that hold the torque tube to the clutch housing came loose and fell down behind the clutch lever. Extremely poor design to put bolts like that in a place you cannot reach to tighten properly. Anyhow, its all good.
