Default Porsche First Aid Kit - Option??

My 86.5 came with a black vinyl First Aid Kit that fits perfectly inside the rear glove compartment. Its like new with all the bandages, etc, still inside... and, of course its all in German Does anyone know if this was standard equipment, an option or an aftermarket item??? I've never seen one before and no one in my club seems to know a lot about it. I'm more interested in the history than anything... but of course, if its worth a ton of cash to a collector I may be persuaded to part with it so I may re-energize my "fix the car" savings acct

Thanks in advance...

Joel

IIRC most ROW cars came with one - certainly in the earlier years.
Cars ordered with the European collection may have had them fitted as well.
Someone like Nicole will have an even better answer.

My '78 came w/ one that stowed behind the (weak cardboard) passenger dead pedal. I gave it away years ago.

I think it was REQUIRED in some countries along with the triagular warning reflector but USA cars if bought for pickup at the factory to be driven in Europe before being shipped also were fitted with the safety equipment.

Thanks all. I have both the rectangular reflector & the first aid kit. Guess someone took it for a spin in Europe when it was new...

My car came from Switzerland and had both the first aid kit and the rectangular reflector

The reflector is required nowadays in Germany, and a reflective vest

dcauto. I had to get a inexpensive part from them that no one else had in a timely fashion. I had to have a 50 dollar minimum. I told them to throw in a first aid kit. Looks just like the one in the post except it was black.

IF your car was one of the Tourist optioned cars, it was required for driving on German roads (all cars must have a triangle and first aid kit) both my 87 and the 91 had this option and still had the equipment.
And...! They don't linger in the fast lane waiting to get rear ended by a faster moving car. They really have it figured out.

I think its cool that they're REQUIRED equipment... and that mine looks like its still brand new. The more I look into this car the more I'm thankful that the PO actually took car of the car - aside of a minor parking lot accident ($#@! happens)...
