Agree that the VWs have a high fun factor. The new R20 weighs 200 pounds less than the r32 and is still all wheel drive. HP is supposed to be 256HP. The r32 normally aspirated engine has a more linear power delivery than the R20 I'm sure. I actually prefer the turbo rush over normally aspirated. I have a 08 GTI 2.0 turbo and love it.

I went from a boxster S to the GTI and I prefer to drive the GTI as an everyday car. The boxster S would get the nod as a weekend only car. Before I bought the Boxster S I looked at the slk 350 and I was blown away by how cheap slightly used Boxster S was compared to the slk. Value for money the boxster S may be a better buy. But intermediate shaft seal problem is a concern for almost every year boxster.

I think a fantastic combo would be the r20 as an everyday car and 928 as a weekend car.

R20: my understanding is the cars will be manual tranny only this time:

I recently drove the R32 of a colleague. If I had one, I definitely would not need a 928 anymore. Except for the looks, the R32 could do almost anything better than the 928.

That's what you get when you get old. Even if you are just a car...

We've found that this is a fun combination:

Very nice combo! I like the 84 GTI in your signature also. Great cars. Throw a classic Mercedes Benz W116/w108 luxo-barge in there and I don't know how you could get any better realistically. Love the coral red. Looks great with the contrasting spoiler.

United Grey is a great color for the r32 also IMO. Classy but very german. The Blue ones I find a little "loud" for my taste but they are all nice really. The Mark V r32 looks better that the Mark VI R in many ways. the Mark VI looks more like a standard GTI to me whereas the Mark V really looks unique. I painted the sideskirts and bumper on my GTI to match the Black Pearl (or whatever they all it) paint and have European R32 wheels. I stopped at adding the R32 grille though. I wanted the European R32 4 door look with the GTI feel. I stopped at the right time though before it became too basta*dized or a clone. This video shows it well (not my car) :

^^^ If I ever buy an R32, I'd swap the center twin exhaust and rear bumper with those from a GTI, and make my R32 a "sleeper"...
