Rather than guessing what parts it needs like a fuel pump you can just hot wire to the pump under the gas tank to KNOW if it pumps fuel when it gets 12 volts. Otherwise you may just own a second good fuel pump. While the ultimate goal is to have it run with the ignition switch getting it drivable with a HOT to the coil and power to the fuel pump might make the wife happer about it since it then is a car and not just driveway art.
The car should be starting on the 9 th injector for the cold start when you first crank it with power to the coil. Worth mentioning that

i bench tested the pump and seemed fine, reinstalled and nothing was coming out from back side, with key on it does make a hum sound then stops, but doesnt come back to humming for a couple of tries, then does, then doesnt. i also have two more wires underneath the wires going to the pump that arent connected to anything, are those the original wires to the fuel pump? thanks!

The fuel pump relay has a circuit which needs to see the engine running for it to keep the relay engaged. Safety feature if you crash the car and the engine stops so broken fuel lines do not feed any fire. The signal for the OK to run the pump comes from the green wire.

Default Spare two wires

Those spare two wires are for euro cars/ or the later cars with the pump in the tank. Which if yours is an 80 u.s. model than you don't need them. Just leave em alone!

CIS is FI

Here’s some reading material, not 928 specific, but will help you understand the bosch Injection systems.

Bosch K-Jetronic Continuous Injection System Mechanical Fuel Injection http://www.dmcnews.com/Techsection/B...chtech-12d.pdf

Bosch L-Jetronic Fuel Injection http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/BO...n%20Manual.pdf

Alright, I thought we were all educated enough to understand that I was refering to ELECTRONIC fuel injection vs MECHANICAL fuel injection. No need to nitpick over a mising "E".

Since the OP's car is EFI, jump the fuel pump from the battery and see if you get pressure by the injectors. After this, if the cylinders are still dry after cranking, then jump the EFI relay and see if the spark plugs get wet. If they do, then for now, you have the fuel portion of the equation taken care off. After this, check for spark with a spare plug (any plug will do). If you have spark, check timing, if not start hunting around to see why not. To me, sounds like you have more than one problem to fix before the engine fill fire on its own.

1980 USA was the first year of electronic injection. Euro cars stayed with CIS mechanical for a few more years

Not knowing what kind of pump was sent to you it is impossible to say. Your original should have Bosche Part numbers on it 0 280 XXX XXx or something like that.
