Default Plug Recommendations with Chipset

Should have my intake refresh done today! Yeah! Then start on next step,
Upgrade FPR and AA chipset. Then exhaust upgrade.

Question: Should I get different Spark plugs? Change the Thermostat?

Any suggestions? It's early 86 MY.

Leave the AA chips alone. If you want chips go with a set from Ken (porken). His website will help you make the decision on plugs.

+1 on leaving the AA chips alone. I have one in my EZ-K from a PO that seems to be the cause of some spark knock under certain conditions. Go with Ken's S300 chips.

+2, go with the Porken S300 chips. He also has recommendations for plugs to go with his chips on his website.

'85-'86 AutoThority or the eBay copies (they are all AT copies) expect the stock fuel pressure, 2.5 bar. If it will run, it will run quite rich with a '87 FPR at 3.8 bar.

S3 AT chips have more mid range spark advance (a little too much in places = pinging), and fueling, but stock WOT ignition and fuel maps, so they cannot dyno higher than stock HP. The rev limit is stock. The LH2.2 code is difficult to figure out, and it is obvious that AT did not spend much time on it. There is no custom programming.

Any 32V can use colder plugs. Bosch WR5DC(+) are what I recommend, gapped to the max WSM spec, 0.8mm (0.032").

If you go with a non-resistor plug, then you can open up the gap to a max 1.0mm (0.040") for a smoother idle, and more power. There are resistors in the plug wire ends, and distributor rotors, so there is no radio interference. I recommend NGK BP8ES, which is a little colder than the Bosch 5 on the NGK scale.
