[quote=Don Carter;9367316]In Rockport now with the family for a few nights during Spring Break. Its my first time in this area in many years and after spending a fun evening with Tony and lovely wife Tambra yesterday and seeing how nice this area is, I wish I could make it back down in April.
We did a bay fishing trip today and my son got to experience the feel of a 24" redfish on the end of his line. If anyone needs a guide during the fling let me know and I'll send you his number.
I'll contact Don Carter and post up. T

Fishing Guide
The guide we used was Tommy Barnard 361-510-6655. We didn't have great luck, but like I said my son hooked a nice 24" Red Fish(dinner for 4), so we didn't get skunked. I think it was more that it was Spring Break with lots of boats in the bay, and the wind was howling. Tommy does seem to know what he's doing. There's also another type of guide that does flounder/black drum gigging at night. Tony has that number. Never done it but sounds fun.
I think Tommy's prices are about 350 for 2, and about 25 per extra person for a 4 hour trip. Boat is 20+' center console bay boat, VERY fast. All tackle, bait and cleaning included.

We screwed up (I did) and waited too late to decide so all the rooms are gone. We'll drive down Saturday afternoon for a dinner visit.
See y'all then!

As it turns out my daughter has a school competition in Corpus next Saturday. The plan now is for my wife to take her in her car and I'll drive the shark down Friday late... So, wife is now asking about the activities and other females participating.
It is last minute, but we have a house on a canal in Holiday Beach just up the road and we have a 22' bay boat too. Unfortunately, the boat is here in Houston and I don't think it a good idea to tow it with the 928.
I know a few things about fishing the area and the canal behind the house is pretty good at night... Just a thought if anyone is thinking of wetting a line.
ATB,
Bill

Like Randy said, all of the rooms at The Light House Inn are now full. There are rooms available just a few miles away at The Hampton Inn. http://www.hilton.com/search/hp/us/t...port?WT.srch=1

Otay boys and girls.
What time are we meeting Friday morning and what route are we taking?
Our usual spot at I-20 and I-35 in the Home Depot parking lot?

Sean, are you guys coming through Austin or around us?
The wife and kids are gonna be in one car and me in the 928, thought we'd jump in the convoy if y'all were coming close by us.
Let me know the route.
Thanks,

For those who are not fishing Saturday, Jerry F, Herman K, and I will be installing the W/W liners at Adam's Automotive, corner of 35 business & 315 E. Concho Street, starting at 10:00 am. I presume the turn out will be just guys, so my wife Tambra would like to take the gals over to Austin St for some shopping if they so choose. We could then reconnect on Austin St for some lunch. After lunch, take a short 928 cruise around the peninsula, and then chill at the Light House Inn for a bit. For those with kids in tow, you might want to try Rockport Beach Park, just 3.5 miles south of the host hotel. You can also reserve a cabana, etc at: http://www.cityofrockport.com/index.aspx?NID=91 If anyone has any questions about the event or area, please do not hesitate to PM me. Looking foreard to seeing everyone this weekend. Tony & Tambra

Hey T., what do you recommend after reaching Refugio on 183? Looking at the map, looks like a series of FM roads going down through Bayside is one option ... is there another route around the north side of the bay?

Thoughts are that Sean, Jim and I will leave about 7.00am and take a leisurly drive South.
Not I35 but back roads.
