i need your opinion/adviceabout a deal i am considering which would involve me getting a 1980 porsche 928 for a parts car for my 1982. are there any major
differences that i need to know about that could cause trouble or be
incompatible?

your advice would be appreciated

if automatics not much difference if both are USA spec cars, if 5 speed then possibly different transmisions and torque tubes changed mid 1980. If yours has competition option S brakes then brakes and spindles are different. Climate controls will possibly be different.
Biggest problem is usually what your 1982 needs the 1980 also needs but if you can use only a few parts it can be worthwhile.

MY 80 motors have the air injection in the manifolds and there is no air tube on the CAT whereas the MY 82 does have an aire tube on the CAT.

+1 What is bad on yours is likely bad on the parts car, whats good on the parts car is likely fine on yours as well.

Things you might actually use off the donor car;

Body panels, doors, glass, gas tank and cap, tools, spare tire, trim bits and interior pieces, radiator, aux fan, clutch fan.

Convenience bits;

Intake, bumpers, cam boxes, dash and pod, misc to restore, pre paint or powder coat and put away until an opportunity to pull the parts and swap them turns up.

Bad idea to keep unless you have a lot of empty storage space, doors, fenders, chassis, old beat seats, extra wheels and tires
