Car won't (always) start
Took the car out today and parked it to shop for 45 min. Returned to parking lot and car wouldn't start. The engine turns over - battery is fine. Acts like its out of fuel.
Waited 20 minutes and it started.
Same thing happened this evening after the car was in the garage for three hours. Finally started after about the fifth key turn.
Fuel pump?
Distributor?
Electrical?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Peace.

Have you replaced the green wire from the distributor?

Thanks for the suggestions. Am going to inspect the $100 green wire and check the fuel pump and relay this morning.

I am going to try and jumper the fuel pump relay to determine this. Meanwhile, is the left wire in the picture the correct GREEN WIRE? I have tested this successfully for continuity to the 14-pin connector. Not sure what the green/yellow wire is, but it tests successfully as well.

When it fails to start next time, jumper all three relevant relay sockets: fuel pump, injection (has 2 outputs) and ignition. Look up famous quotes here by Jim Bailey.

Okay, so the green wire is actually brown on this 84; probably the original wire. It seems to be in good condition.
Fuel pump relay is clicking when starting car - I think that's okay.
Took air filter out and discovered some evidence of mice. Makes me more concerned about wiring issues. Like 928's need more issues with electrical.
Will follow up on Bill's suggestion next time it doesn't start.
Thanks.
