Default Question re sensor behind headlight

I've collected up a bunch of instructions regarding getting at the sensor for outside temperature which is located behind the drivers side headlight. I'm quite sure the sensor is there as I'm the only owner of the car since it was new. Question: Is the sensor more likely to be shot or simply bad connections. If bad connections, should I simply clean and re-assemble or would it make sense to solder? These are probably stupid questions but is still would appreciate answers.

The harness connection for the sender lead is not o-ringed and is exposed to the elements. Thus, chances are the connections need to be cleaned and then it will be fine.

You can test sender operation with a multimeter and a hair dryer; it's thermistor-type.

Access is very simple. Take the driver side wheel off and then remove the wheel well liner. The sender is right there.
As mentioned above it might just need a cleaning. You will know more when you see what's going on in there.

Or you can raise lights, remove that light cover, remove bulb, and access the sensor that way. The access is small, but do-able.
