Here's a before/after pic of a recoated gear. The shiny part is where the original coating had worn away.

And Dave know of what he speaks. He has been in the engine so many times......

Quite possible but the gears weren't listed on any of the dealer invoices. The PO, Ron Perry, also did a replacement of the timing belt but I can't find a thing saying he did the gears.

I have a PKensioner on there now so we'll see what it looks like at 150,000 miles.
