My idle just went crazy - about 2k rpms when fully warmed up.

I couldn't slow it down with the idle adj screw.

I pulled the Aux Air Valve,

It was hot. Had to hold it with a towel.

And it was not fully closed.

Does that make sense.

(always something!)

LT,

It sounds like the heater winding has fried and is shorting to the body of the AAV. You can check it by testing for a circuit from the positive connector to the body of the AAV.

2k seems too high to be due to the aav, even wide open. Pinchthe hose leading to the AAV and see how much it slows down. I think you must have a large vacuum leak somewhere else...

I removed the AAV, hooked it up to power at the jump post, it was fully closed in 6 minutes.

So I bet I got the wiring loom plugs mixed up.

Off to the garage with the current flow document and my multimeter.

Thanks

Bad ground connection in the AAV plug and wire loom ground point! All is well now.
