Default Oil Pressure Sender

I just replaced the original sender in my 86.5, once it got to about 4.5 bar it would peg, had that problem with a few senders in my 968. While taking out the old sender the whole assembly came out, pretty sure I got all the springs and everything back together correctly, at least according to PET. Now when I fire it up it only goes up to 3 bar. So do I have a bad replacement sender or did I not assemble the springs and stuff correctly? I put the small spring into the bottom of the piece that screws into the block, then the cap on top of that, then the piston, then the big spring on top of that.

This thread might help with the assembly part of the question,

Thanks, that's exactly how I put the assembly together. So maybe a bad oil sender?

I don't know how to test it, but think someone might jump in.
This other thread talks about the sender x oil viscosity x potential cam olugs missing/out of place.

This is more likely an electrical problem.

I'm leaning towards a new bad sender unless someone thinks otherwise. The wiring should be ok, it worked before I swapped senders.

In my experience, if the leads are swapped, the gauge will peg, and the warning light will flicker at idle. You might have them swapped in combination with a bad connection to the gauge. a multimeter test while hitting the throttle would confirm this.

Are you sure you put the spring in the right way up?
