924 Turbo
....but wait, there IS 928 content....from the always luvin us Hemmings Sports & Exotics, this quote from an article about the 924 turbo:
911 purists who dismiss the 924 turbo out of hand are missing the plot. It's certainly true that it takes more skill to drive the visceral 911 - particularly a 911 turbo - properly, compared to the 924 turbo. And like that of the "affordable" Porsche 914 before it, the 924's Volkswagen/Audi heritage is a stigma to some who worship at the alter of Weissach. But the 924 was a product of the thinking that begat the ageless 928: perfectly balanced handling accessible to drivers of all skill levels, thoughtful accommodations, efficient design and continent -shrinking grand touring capability....

I've "soured" a little on HS & E since they couldn't even get a correct picture of a '78 928 for their 1978 European Car of the Year article......... Come on, how hard is it?....
I wasn't too impressed with their coverage of the 928 in their V8 article a couple months ago either.
You should send some pics of BluMaxx to them Ed. That would be a great car to write a story about!

Sports and Exotic is probably the biggest 928 booster out there. They mentioned the 928 as a lower-cost alternative to an Aston Martin last month, called it "ageless" this month, and must have featured it in one way or another about four or five times last year.
What we need to do is convince someone on their staff to own one.

This is how I read the article: The 924 was inspired by the 928 effort to develop a balanced sports car.

In my 12 years on Rennlist I've seen the 924 vs 928 development argument at least 6 times. The Porsche project numbers were assigned sequentially, so the #924 was given to engineering before #928. BUT, the 924 project was assigned as a proposal to VW to design their EA425 project. VW approved the project at about the same time as Porsche gave the OK to proceed with Projeck 928. Actual development occurred at the same time. The 924 project finished earlier since many components were taken from existing VW/Audi vehicles. The source of the above information is Porsches Projeck 928, chapter titled 21 Oct 1971.

Having said all of that, I love my 928 and I would love to own a 924 Turbo!
