Looking for Phonedials

And one more for you Matt. I love them more every time I look at them. No other rim scratches the high school dreamcar itch like they do. Got 'em on Ebay for $350. Had to refinish them but that's to be expected.

I've had a hard time rounding up a set of late 944 turbo wheels, only have one 8J16. There's currently a set of chromes in good shape for 600. I would want to dechrome them so it isnt worth it.

When I asked Carlos (Hernanca) about his setup, he replied with this:
The rears are the 23.3 mm wheels (early 944 Turbo), but the fronts are late 944 phone dials with 53.3mm offset. The fronts are really close to the brakes AND the fender, and I plan to do some slight body mods to set it up closer to my comfort zone.
Good luck with it. I like the look of the phone dials on a 928. I also have seen some 928 deep dish phonies for sale on CL in LA or Inland Empire, but the guy wants $1100 for them.

Drew Thank you, your rears look particularly awesome to me.
Jeff H, thanks.
Found a late set but in Texas and he doesn't want to ship to me.
Some 944 people told me to expect to pay 800-2000 for a set condition dependent. I think i can find a whole 951 for $2k.
Either way it will be phonies. Repainting the car in the next year to do away w rub strip holes and rear bumper-ettes, looking forward to that.

got them!
250 miles round trip through the rain but i got a great set (off '88 951) with new Michelins and no curb rash. Owner put Twists on his Turbo.
They made great coffee cup holder on way home.
Can't wait to put them on tomorrow.

Thanks to you Jim for the specs confirming the use of late 951s and especially thanks to Tony 77 for the idea.
I almost paid a machinist to try and widen a set off a 928 and Tony advised this route.
Got a great deal, Owner did not appreciate them i guess and they were original to the car. His black 944 Turbo now has 18" twists or some modern twisted Porsche wheel. Hard for me to believe he'd sell them at $500. Gave him his asking price.
Love them. Now on to the next thing.

ohboyohboyohboyohboy...
Interesting choice the PO made with the 205x55s and 225x50s... curious to see how they look and handle on the car.
Post pictures when you get them on, Matt.
Good score, brother.
