How fast will it go?

Egad! What a disaster. Like Jim said, at least they can drive the 928, and they should be able to race, but then what? I'm not sure how George is going to get that Cayenne back home. The nearest Porsche dealer is over 240 miles from Ely - in the wrong direction.
Temporary Fix:
The intake manifold has to come off. George, you need some of this:

Or duct tape and some clamps.

George:
This:
Wrapped around this:
I'd reinforce it with a bunch of clamps.
I can order it Friday and see if Amazon will be able to overnight to Ely (might be a bit too rural). I have Amazon Prime so overnight is only $4.
On second thought, the local auto parts store probably has this kind of stuff.
This suggestion is assuming you just have a slightly cracked pipe

George did that once before. Cost was over $1000, but we had no choice, or at least thought we didn't, until when offloading the car after we arrived at home we noticed one of the axles had come off the diff case (forgot to tighten the bolts). All the bolts were still there, so we tightened them up and the car drove the rest of the way into the garage on its own power.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I've ordered the replacement coolant pipe kit from ECS, it should be here Monday morning. We'll try and install it and drive the Cayenne back to the Bay Area.
As for a 928 update, we drove the road today, from Ely to Lund to Hiko to Ash Springs and back. It rained pretty hard at times, with thunderstorms in the surrounding mountains, but the car ran well. Did a little Sharktuning on a dry stretch of highway. The car was running pretty rich, high 10's to high 11's. Got it to run in the high 11's to low 12s, but ran out of time to get it dialed in any better.
Meet Jim and his nephew this evening. Jim had install a roll bar in his S4 and has signed up for the 135 mph class.
Registration, Tech, and Car Show tomorrow morning thru afternoon, then the driver's meeting tomorrow evening.

Good luck tomorrow, George and Van. It looks like you found it 1 point richer up at altitude than we measured at sea level. Since we have the sea level map stored (maybe not on your PC), you should have the two maps available for easy swapping.

George and Van should be on their way down the course about now. There is no cell signal anywhere near the course, so I don't expect to hear from them until late today at the earliest.
Sending good thoughts their way.

Thanks for all the well wishes. We had a good run and made it back safely.
The day started off rainy and cold. We left Ely around 8:30 AM, and as we started up to the pass out of town to Lund it started to snow. Not something you want to see on the way to a race.
Luckily by the time we reached Lund the snow and rain had stopped and the sun came out.
Photo of Van and me at the starting pits:
It was about 58 degrees with a 10 mph tail wind at the start of our race. The car ran well, even with the AFRs in the mid to high 11s when on WOT, and mid 12s when on cruise. The low temps and tail wind helped a lot, along with Van's work on cleaning up the car and wheels (improved aero). We were able to hit a top speed of 210 mph and averaged 170.6097 mph over the 90 miles of highway 318. This was good enough to beat our only other competitor in the 170 class and win 1st place.
The 170 class at the finish area:
Sorry to say that because of some troubles on the course, we had a rushed start and did not get our video cameras started before we began our run. As a consolation, here is the log from the GPS of our run through the Speed Trap:
I'll try to post a few more photos when I have time to digest all of what has happened on this trip, and after fixing the Cayenne so we can drive home tomorrow.
So thanks to Van for volunteering to navigate and for all his help at this event, and to Bill for his tireless work in preparing the car, and to all the others that have helped in the cause.

Congratulation George & Van, a really great run
210 mph through the speed trap is really cooking, looking forward to more photos of your run and the event.
I am planing on being @ the SSCC in September, got my room booked so I will see you then.
