Default Headlights always on and won't flip up

Guys: My first electrical issue has come up. The lights were functioning fine, but recently they have decided to stay on at all times (even without key in ignition) and they no longer flip up. Any thoughts? Thanks

Probably the headlamp relay.

You can try taking it out, take the cover off and check the contacts, or just replace it.

Easier to replace it.

Sounds like a reasonable plan. Time to open that scary black box. It did blow my mind to see wood in this car. I will check it out. Thanks!

I jiggled it and now lights flip up and down but no power to bulbs. Relay (one of the double ones) didn't want to slide out easily and I did not force the issue. Instead, I moved to the 14 pin connector to find two completely destroyed wires in that engine harness. Fun. But that's another thread altogether. Stay tuned!

Found an extra switch in the POs box of goodies and installed it. Headlights remain on at all times even when key is out. But they do go up and down correctly. I am assuming a bad relay that has switch closed all the time. Is that a good guess?

Sometimes you can get away with opening the relay case, and burnishing the heavy current points to stop them conduction all the time...The double unit can be $$$, but I picked up one on Ebay a while ago quite cheaply...
