Jerry's Rear WW Liners for GTS
The Rear WW Liners that I have developed for the 928 GTS are now available, based on my somewhat limited ability to produce them. You can learn a lot more about them and their development in the earlier thread which has now pretty much run its course. The following points are important to consider for those interested:
1. These WW Liners are made of black ABS Plastic and replace but do not duplicate the originals.
2. These WW Liners fit the GTS more precisely.
3. These WW Liners fasten to most of the original mounting points utilizing a system of brackets provided. (No additional holes will be drilled in the car to install these.)
4. Installation of these WW Liners requires the user or his installer to do minimal fabrication including locating, drilling, and doubling several holes in the Liners for mounting.
5. Most of the tools and all of the hardware needed for installation are provided with the kit, along with detailed instructioins.
I have "toyed" with the pricing for these WW Liners, as shown somewhat in the earlier thread, and now I have set the introductory price(s) as follows:
Basic WW LIners (without sound blocking material) - - - - - - - - $650
WW Liners with sound Blocking material (Mass Loaded Vinyl) - - $850
S&H to points West of the Mississioppui River - - - - - - - - - - - - $75
S&H to points East of there - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $100
(S&H for others and international will require a quote when they are ready to ship.)
The introductory price will apply to those who get on the final list prior to July 8, 2013, without regard to when I can prepare your Kit for shipment. After that I think the prices may be $750 and $1000 respectively, Plus S&H.
There is intended to be no form of secondary marketing of these WW LIners, so they will be sold only directly to the final user, and not to someone else for the final user.
There is no Warranty of any kind with these WW Liners; however I will be available to discuss any problems or issues about installation or about service or performance, and I will be open to determine how to help with or solve any issue raised and including if or how any solution will be paid for.
To place your order you need to send me an email to:
jfeather@bresnan.net
and I will put you on a list which I will coordinate with the list I have already compiled of those who have previously expressed and interest in these WW Liners. I will then be producing these Kits for those in the resulting priority, and I'll send you an email when your Kit is ready. Then you will have a few days to send me a check or pay by PayPal, or possibly by then, by credit card. I will need your MY GTS and the last four digits of your VIN for my records.
Please reserve your inquiries about the version of these WW Liners for the S4/GT cars and for the earlier cars for seperate threads about those when that development is finalized.

Tom, the Liners will fit but you don't likely have the two top mounting points on each side, so they will have to be mounted with the S4/GT brackets, and I have all but one of those designed. So, you will need to wait for a bit for that to happen.

Kevin and Tom, Actually I am not yet sure about mounting these liners in the car before the S4s. I remember Dave sending or posting a picture of a huge gathering of various inner fender/wheelwell spash guards and that I was surprised at how many different ones there were/are. I have neither had nor taken much of an opportunity yet to see just what the mounting points are that I can use to mount the version of these liners for early cars in those before the 87 MY. That is why I have kind of been having the S4/GT as my secondary target, with the 928s before that third.
In any case, there will only need to be two versions of the liners themselves--the ones for the GTS and the ones for everything before. Actually it may be that there is only one and a half version(s) since the inner half fits all the cars and the outer half comes in two versions. Its the mounting that may be a real challenge.
What that means is that I essentially have, with a little bit of work and adjustment, forms for all of the liner halves, but only need to develop the mountings needed. Then it will not matter if an early car is modified to the GTS quarters or not. It will utilize the common inner half and the GTS outer half with the then appropriate bracket system for the year of the car.

What if I just want to make them fit myself?..no worries about brackets and such ?

Hi Tom. The WW Liners will, I think, already fit your early 928 with the GTS quarters. The problem is that there are even fewer mounting points in your car since I don't think there is anything in the bottom rear on either side to mount to in addition to the two GTS points in the top of each side that I am certain you don't have.
So, I myself have some substantial worries about brackets and such.

Not yet. But, at the rate these are being jumped on it looks like I will be working up the S4/GT brackets pretty soon and then figure out how to do the earlier cars.
I bought the 80 Euro a while back primarily to have that MY to work with about brackets for the early cars, but there is still a blank in my collection from then to the S4s, and I don't have an OB either. There is an S3 here in town that belongs to a friend of mine and maybe another one in the early 80s that I can at least look at to see where the liners can be hung, but I may need one for a time to do the actual fitting of brackets.

I have been working to try to organize the production of these so that it make some sence to me. I had tried to do it in small batches a couple of times when I was doing the in-the-field-thing, and that was really very hectic. Now I am trying to work up a small quantity of each of the components seperately, up to the point of some final finish and assembly and then hope to be able to make the finish work and final assembly on a set one at a time and be able to do it much more smoothly, and then put one set in the post at a time.
Here are a few pictures of one of the Liners without the noise control material installed which I have clipped together so you can have a view of what the complete liner, without the brackets, looks like, although they will not usually be assembled in this manner out of the car for any good reason. They get installed in the Wheel Well one half at a time.
The last picture is of the little clip removal pliers that I have devised and fabricated for inclusion in each of the kits.
