Specs on Oil Pressure sender wires?
Guys: Like an idiot, I opened a giant can of worms the other night when I decided to see if I could repair some wiring in the engine harness that connects to the 14-pin connector. The car was running relatively well, but I like to make things right if I can. I have a few wires that are completely beyond recognition. To get to the point, I definitely need to replace both wires that go to the oil pressure sender. There is no insulation left but they seem like a heavy guage wire. I cannot confirm colors, but I'll experiment later on with the two posts. Can anyone confirm if they are maybe 16 guage or what? I have a bunch of 18 guage wire on hand. Will that work or should I get a heavier guage wire for these two wires. Anyone know exact specs on them? I'd also appreciate the specs on the #10 wire with is the starter to resistor wire. I guess in the end, it's OK to use a heavier guage than needed, correct???

The wire sizes for the 928 are given in metric terms, in cross-sectional area.
14 gage is 2.08mm
16 gage is 1.31mm
18 gage is 1.02mm
The wires to the sensor are 1.0mm, so 18 gage will be close enough. The wires are blue with white stripe on Terminal G, and blue with black stripe on Terminal Wk.
The starter to resistor wire is black with yellow stripe in 1.5mm, which is between 15 and 16 gage. You could use 14 gage, which is 2.08mm.
Yes, bigger is OK. Three gage numbers double the ampacity (current carrying capability).

Wires 2 and 4
I thought I had done a really good job labeling wires and keeping track. I realized that i would be juggling the two wires that go to the oil pressure sender, which are 2 and 4. Now that I am back wired up, I still have an oil pressure guage that is pegged at full pressure, not matter how I swap wires 2 and 4 to the two new ones I added to the harness for the sender. It's possible I haven run the car enough to get the oil hot enough for the pressure to come down, I guess? Anyone have any thoughts on that?? I have not driven the car enough to recall how much pressure there was upon start up before I started into the 14-pin connector. Thanks!
