84-88 Rear Speaker Upgrade Kits - Now available
After several requests for replacement rear speaker options, I have a small run of rear speaker adapters for the 84-88 "square grill" rear speakers.
This adapter is pre-drilled for the Earthquake SWS-6.5 speaker, but also will allow use of any shalle ISO 6.5" driver. It is designed in a way that allows clearance in front of the speaker, which is necessary for the long-stroke Earthquake SWS driver, but also beneficial for concentric coaxial speakers, where the tweeter is mounted on a raised stalk.
These adapters install with no modification to the grill, housing, or stock speaker, and can be returned to stock at any time.
I currently have adapters and Earthquake SWS 6.5 drivers in stock, and would like to sell the first batch as a kit. If you would like just the adapters, please contact me, and I will get another order for those togheter.
Also available, is a custom adapter which will allow installation of the Project Nine door speaker component set in the rear location for those who would like matching speakers in all four corners. Rear component speaker kits are available at the same price as door kits, and the adapters will be provided instead of grills.
The Earthquake kit included a custom set of adapters, mounting screws for the drivers, foam tape to create a gasket between the adapter and the grill shell (optional, but installed in seconds for better performance), and a pair of the Earthquake SWS-6.5 drivers.
It is worth mentioning that I am an authorized Earthquake dealer, and these will come with full warranty backed directly by Earthquake.
I currently have nine sets on hand.
Price for the kit is $150 +shipping to your location.
Attached are pictures of the driver inserted into the adapter with and without the grill assembly.

I will take a set for my 86 which we discussed a few weeks ago. Let me know price with shipping to Perth Western Australia. Shipping doesn't have to be express as I have a long list and the car is on stands already.
